It is often imagined as a place of ultimate beauty and absolute peace, where the things, people, and places that we hold close, in the deepest chambers of our hearts, are preserved in their fullest for eternity. It is sometimes envisioned with fields of rolling green and hills of lush grass stretching on as far as the eye can see; or flowing with crystalline waters and endless blue skies. I believ

e it is whatever you wish it to be; that it is a place of rest for the soul - a Heaven, if you will. The images I preserve are representations of what I see everyday as I step outside my front door; as I'm driving down the road; as I watch my children play....This is the view through my eyes...
I chose to call my page Summerland, for I see a bit of God, a glimpse of this "Heaven" every day, manifested in a million different ways all at once.

I have put off making this post for a long while...

Due to health issues, I haven't been taking on any photography projects for the past several months, and won't be able to take any in the future for the time being.

I adore capturing moments. This breaks my heart.

Thank you to all who trusted me behind the camera, who allowed me to be your photographer, to be part of your lives for a moment.

Hopefully, this break won't be forever, and I'll be back soon - camera in hand 😌

Just so you understand why Hurricane Milton is breaking records and is so potentially devastating and is strengthiening so quickly and even continuing to strengthen even after becoming a Cat 5...

Ever seen the movie, "The Perfect Storm?" Basically a super storm happens because two large storms merge.

The big rotating hurricane in the picture below is Milton. HOWEVER, notice the smaller rotating storm to the northeast of Milton? That is another low pressure tropical system that is feeding its energy directly into Milton.

We basically have a super storm developing with Milton eating the other tropical low to its northeast as its food.

This *could* strengthen to the point of being the strongest hurricane in modern recorded history. It is already the quickest strengthening storm in modern recorded history.

AMAZING. Pray. This could devastate Central Florida.

My very first ball in the bag! It was a blast. Everyone we met was so incredibly nice, the costumes were amazing, and the atmosphere was just plain fun!
And Haylee the Peacock Princess won Queen of the Wild Things, so she has a ticket for next year!

This post isn't exactly photography related.
Preparing for the on the Gulf Coast later this month, has me making costumes.
The more they come together, the more I wish I'd stopped to take WIP photos along the way!
I've never made costumes of this magnitude before and I'm quite proud of what's been accomplished!
I can't wait to show off the end result!

This is a picture of Hannah Stilley, and it was taken in 1840. Why is this important? She was born in 1749 and that makes her the earliest born human being to ever have their picture taken..

I know, I know.. Nobody cares except me, but maybe there are a few who share my passion for trivial history and little known historical facts.

I've been out of commission for quite awhile.
Broken bones, several back-to-back illnesses, health issues with my daughter, the death of beloved furbabies - it's taken a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Hopefully, though, things are looking up and I'll be able to find my way back to my passion - my photography.
