The former LSU Tiger finished T4 at the Memorial Tournament after rounds of 69-69-71-69 for a total of -10.

A look at the scorecard shows just how well Burns played throughout the week. Over four rounds, he recorded an eagle and 15 birdies while keeping himself firmly in contention against one of the strongest fields on the PGA Tour.

His second round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 7th hole, helping him post one of three rounds in the 60s. Burns remained steady throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 69, 69, 71, and 69 to earn another top-five finish.

Week after week, Burns continues to represent Louisiana at the highest level of professional golf. Since turning professional in 2017, the Shreveport native has become one of the most accomplished golfers our state has ever produced, and performances like this are a reminder that he’s always a threat when his game starts clicking. ⚜️

One year ago I started Louisiana Golf with a simple goal — create something that resonates with past, present, and future golfers in Louisiana. I posted the course closest to where I grew up .

Not just the big tournaments or perfect course photos, but the people, stories, hidden gems, local courses, junior golfers, weekend groups, and history that make Louisiana golf what it is.

Since then, this page has grown to over 7k followers who love this game and this state as much as I do. We’ve shared 115 posts over the past year covering courses, players, tournaments, and moments from all across Louisiana.

I honestly can’t thank y’all enough for the support this first year. The messages, comments, conversations, and people I’ve met through this page have made it all worth it.

But this is only the beginning.

Over the past year I’ve also been building something bigger behind the scenes — the Louisiana Golf app.

A place built specifically for Louisiana golfers.

Every course in the state. Digital scorecards. Community rounds. Golf news. Handicaps. Course history. Local golf all in one place.

Something built for us, by someone who genuinely cares about golf in Louisiana.

Year one was building the community.
Year two is building the future of it.

The Louisiana Golf app is coming soon.

Thank y’all for riding with me this first year. Excited for what’s next. ⚜️

We sat down with Tulane freshman Sophia Macias, who recently became the first female in Louisiana history to be cleared to play in the Louisiana Golf Association Men’s Amateur Qualifier.

“My coach was talking to me about signing up for tournaments and I was looking through everything and thought, why not try to sign up for the men’s game? And they said yeah, you can play.”

Sophia knows exactly what this moment means for the bigger picture of women’s golf.

“Golf is a very male dominated sport. I’ve definitely gotten some weird looks on the golf course over the years. Girls golf has grown so much since I started playing and it’s really great to see.”

Being accepted into the qualifier is one thing, but for Sophia the real goal is still ahead. She’ll be playing from the men’s tees at English Turn and has her eyes set on one thing.

“I hope they look back and say she qualified. It doesn’t really mean as much if I don’t qualify. So that’s the goal.”

Her message to any young girl watching this moment unfold?

“Don’t let other people make you uncomfortable. It doesn’t hurt to shoot your shot. Win or lose, you go home the same person.”

We’re rooting for you Sophia 🙌⚜️

Along U.S. 190 between Mandeville and Covington, Louisiana, Louis Prima once turned open land into his own slice of paradise — a place where jazz, horses, and golf all swung to the same beat.
Born in New Orleans in 1910, Prima rose from the city’s streets to become one of the most electrifying entertainers in America. He wrote “Sing, Sing, Sing,” dominated the swing era, then reinvented himself in Las Vegas with Keely Smith and Sam Butera & The Witnesses. Hits like “Just a Gigolo” and “Pennies from Heaven” made him a headliner, but he never left Louisiana behind. In the early 1950s, Prima bought 36 acres off Highway 190 and built a race track for his horses. He then put in a few golf holes and liked it so much that in 1956 he purchased another 60 acres and created Pretty Acres Golf Club — an 18-hole course (expanded in 1957) that became a true Northshore destination. The development had it all: a restaurant, motel, miniature golf for the kids, horseback riding, and swimming. It was more than a golf course — it was Prima’s lively retreat where music and recreation mixed freely. His brother Leon helped manage it at times, and the whole family spent time there. Prima and his wife Gia Maione split time between Covington and Las Vegas, but Pretty Acres was his hands-on Louisiana project.
He loved the game so much that he later built another course on his Las Vegas estate — Fairway to the Stars — where he could play during the day and perform at night. But Pretty Acres always held a special place as his Northshore creation.
After Louis passed away in 1978, Gia maintained and even refurbished the course, keeping it open into the early 1990s. Today a Walmart, Home Depot, and other retail now occupy parts of the old property — but Louis Prima Drive still runs through the area, and a small dog park at the end of the road carries the name Pretty Acres. From the French Quarter clubs where he first learned to play, to the Vegas lounges he packed, and back to these quiet Louisiana fairways he built himself, Louis Prima lived every moment at full volume.

A true New Orleans original who brought the swing home.

Big shakeup in professional golf: Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is pulling funding for LIV Golf after this season, according to a new Wall Street Journal report. The league that shook up the sport since 2022 is now on shaky ground, leaving stars like Louisiana fans’ favorite Bryson DeChambeau facing an uncertain future and a potential road back to the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau, the two-time major champion and golf’s mad scientist, has been one of LIV’s biggest names. With Saudi backing drying up, the circuit is scrambling for new investors and is unlikely to continue in its current form.

PGA Tour leadership has already signaled there will be accountability for players who left, especially those involved in the antitrust lawsuit. Negotiations ahead will be case-by-case.

In direct response to the event being postponed in NOLA, Governor Jeff Landry and Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Bourgeois released the following statement regarding the postponed LIV Golf Louisiana event originally scheduled for June 2026 in New Orleans.

The statement thanks the PGA Tour and Zurich for their continued partnership while noting appreciation for LIV’s good-faith efforts and ongoing conversations about a possible fall event.

One thing is clear — the professional golf landscape is shifting fast. Louisiana golfers, what’s your take on all this? Drop your thoughts below 👇🏼

New Orleans was shaping up for a strong stretch of golf this year.

Coming off the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April, the city was also set to host LIV Golf at Bayou Oaks in City Park this June. Not because Louisiana needs it—but because it would’ve added another big moment to an already solid golf scene.

The state had already invested into Bayou Oaks ahead of the event, and the city was preparing for another wave of national attention and tourism. For New Orleans, it was a chance to build on momentum—not create it.

Because the reality is, Louisiana golf has always stood on its own.

From historic courses and local talent to a consistent PGA Tour stop, the foundation is already here. LIV wasn’t going to define that—but it did represent an opportunity to bring in a different format, a different audience, and more eyes on the state in the same season.

Now, with the event officially canceled, it’s less about what Louisiana loses—and more about what could’ve been added.

Another week of high-level competition. Another spotlight on City Park. Another chance to showcase what golf in this state looks like.

But the bigger picture doesn’t change.

Louisiana is still Louisiana when it comes to golf.

The question now is—do we see LIV take another shot here down the line? And would you want to see it happen?

What an awesome weekend at the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans!

English brothers Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick made history — they are the first brothers ever to win this tournament together! They teamed up for a huge victory right here at TPC Louisiana in Avondale.

On Saturday, the brothers fired a record-breaking 15-under 57 — the best score ever in that round format at this event. That hot round gave them a big lead heading into Sunday.
On the final day, things got tight with some mistakes on the back nine, but they stayed calm. They finished the tournament at a total of 257 and won by just one stroke with a clutch birdie on the very last hole. Matt got out of the bunker perfectly, and Alex tapped in to seal the win. What a moment for the brothers in the Big Easy! ⚜️

Matt has been on fire lately with three wins in his last five starts, and this was Alex’s very first PGA Tour victory.
Big shoutout to all the Louisiana fans who came out and cheered loud all week at TPC Louisiana — y’all helped make it special!

Congrats to the Fitzpatrick brothers — pure family magic in NOLA!

Moving Day delivered, and Sam Burns has teed off.

A bogey-free 68 to get to -10, sitting solo 3rd and just one shot back of Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young heading into Sunday at The Masters.

Every part of his game showed up when it mattered most. That’s the difference at the Masters — not just making birdies, but staying away from the big number. Augusta doesn’t let you fake it for long, and he didn’t.

Now here we are.

Shreveport’s own. LSU Tiger. Final round of the Masters, penultimate group, one shot off the lead with a real chance to go win his first major.

You don’t get many Sundays like this. Lets Geaux Sam.
