Inmate gets 15 years for choking cellmate to death in Santa Rosa prison

A Santa Rosa County jury found a state prison inmate guilty of manslaughter in connection of a 2022 incident where he strangled his cellmate to death, according to a news release from the State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden’s office. Jurors found Tavis Williams guilty on Sept. 1 and was sentenced by Circuity Judge Clifton Drake....

The lasting impact of 9/11

Navarre resident and 9/11 survivor Ricki DeSantis spoke with Navarre Press last week about how the terrorist attacks have impacted his health over the past 25 years.

DeSantis said he has had multiple surgeries to address cancer and other ailments he acquired from his time at Ground Zero.

St. Sylvester Catholic Church honors 9/11 victims, survivors

With this week marking 25 years since 9/11, St. Sylvester Catholic Church made sure to honor the lives of those lost during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The ceremony was held Sunday, Sept. 6.

On September 11, 2001, Jon Fay was a young Naval Air Officer, stationed for advanced training at NAS Pensacola. That morning, our world, and his world, changed in an instant.

Throughout his 24 year career in the US Navy, culminating on his return to this area as the Executive Officer of the Blue Angels, Jon's experiences from that day, and afterward, are an American story.

On the 25th Anniversary of that day, Commander Jon Fay (USN Ret.) shares his firsthand account of September 11 and the journey that followed—a journey of the hope and faith that defines America.
