Grimes County Citizens,

Here is the second portion of the Commissioners Court meeting concerning the SpaceX tax abatement. Please excuse the first part of the video as the the direction of filming was changed.

Commissioner David Tullos voted NO on this tax abatement and took the time to explain his vote, while Judge Joe Fauth, Commissioner Mallett, Commissioner Raska, and Commissioner Cox all voted YES.

Elected officials owe their constituents honesty, transparency, and the courage to openly stand behind their decisions.

Thank you, Commissioner David Tullos, for standing firm in your convictions and voting according to the principles you believe are in the best interest of the citizens of Grimes County.

In a final effort to help clear up any confusion about what occurred during Commissioners Court, 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 has been posted, highlighting the actual motions made and votes taken by the court.

For clarification, Commissioner David Tullos requested that restrictions be placed against solar farms, wind farms, BESS (battery energy storage systems), and data centers, by requesting that they be placed on the list of ineligible properties for tax abatements in Grimes County:
Solar Farms, Wind Farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Cloud, colocation, and hyperscale data centers.

The results of those votes were as follows:

Solar Farms – Vote Passed unanimously, 5–0.

Wind Farms – Vote Passed unanimously, 5–0.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – Vote was 3 for and 2 against the request.
Although a majority supported the motion, it failed due to the requirement of a 75% favorable vote.

Cloud, Colocation, and Hyperscale Data Centers – Vote was 3 for and 2 against the request.
This motion also failed due to the requirement of a 75% favorable vote.

RICHARDS PANTHERS ARE BI-DISTRICT CHAMPS!!!

The Panthers rolled to a convincing victory over the Prairie Lea Indians on Tuesday night in Giddings. The outcome was never in doubt as the Panthers jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead and never looked back, with a final score of 72-34.

Don’t be confused by the Giddings uniforms. Because both teams were wearing dark uniforms, the Panthers borrowed light colored uniforms from the Giddings Buffaloes before the game started. A change of uniforms didn’t slow down the Panthers as they dominated from start to finish.

The Panthers will take on Comstock later this week in the Area round. Hope to see you in the stands.

We made a visit to our favorite mobile coffee shop barista today, Hillbilly Brew & Southern Sno, for a mid-day treat. Our choices today were the Mountain Turtle Mocha and the Mountain Mounds. Excellent choices!!!!
