U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul announced that he won’t seek re-election in 2026. McCaul is the Representative for Grimes County.

"I'm looking for a new challenge in the same space that would be national security, foreign policy," he said.

The Anderson-Shiro Owls and the New Waverly Bulldogs boys basketball teams met on Thursday night in Richards to determine the final district standings after ending the season tied for third in district. The Owls and Bulldogs played an outstanding game that was close until the very end, with the Owls falling short in the end, 47-40.

The Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department put on an amazing Christmas party for area families on Saturday night. The atmosphere was festive, the spaghetti dinner catered by YaYa's Floral & Specialty Shop in Navasota was outstanding, and the lighting decorations by Kingdom Christmas Lights were spectacular.
Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance taking photos and providing gifts to all the children in attendance.
It was a great start to the holiday season.
Kudos to the members of the volunteer fire department and volunteers for hosting such a great event.
