The Grimes County Senior Center, located at 129 Main St. in Anderson, serves senior citizens 60 years old and up in our community on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. to all in attendance for a donation of $4. On Monday and Friday seniors play dominos and cards and on Wednesdays, bingo is played. If you like puzzles, there is always one in the making to work on at your leisure. But most of all the center provides good conversation and fellowship for those in attendance.

Each year the center holds their annual hot dog and raffle fundraiser. It will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.. The hot dog lunch consisting of a hot dog with condiments, bag of chips, soft drink or water and a dessert is $10. If you'd like to add a 2nd hot dog the cost is $12. The raffle ticket consists of 17 prizes from local merchants or community members. The cost is $1 per ticket or a book of 6 for $5. The proceeds from this fundraiser helps to feed our senior citizens 3 days a week, provides funds for maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful building and any repairs that are needed. Therefore, any support from our community of Grimes County is much appreciated and welcomed. Below is a copy of the raffle ticket. If you'd like tickets before Aug. 12, please call Gail at 936-870-6842 or go by the center when it's open to get some. You can also buy some at the hot dog lunch as well.
