I think one of the reasons I’ll always love Biltmore is because so many different versions of us exist there.

My 30th birthday wine tasting at the winery. Walking through the Titanic costume exhibit completely nerding out over every tiny detail and bead. Long afternoons hiking around the estate with the dogs while the mountains peek through the trees.

Some trips were big occasions and some were just “let’s get away for the weekend” kind of trips, but somehow Biltmore always ended up feeling comforting and familiar in the best way.

It’s one of those places where we’ve made so many small memories over the years that now every corner feels tied to a story. A trail we walked. A bottle of wine we loved. A rainy afternoon in the gardens. A crisp fall morning in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

If you’ve never been to Biltmore, I can’t recommend it enough — whether you go for the history, the gardens, the winery, or just a quiet weekend in the mountains. And if you have been, you totally already understand why folks absolutely love visiting America’s largest private residence!

The verdict? The Queen Mary is absolutely worth visiting… especially if you love places with stories baked into every hallway.

Docked in Long Beach since 1967, this retired ocean liner has lived a hundred different lives. She carried celebrities, soldiers during WWII, and travelers crossing the Atlantic long before commercial air travel became the norm. Today, you can wander the art deco corridors, peek into historic staterooms, grab a drink onboard, and hear all the ghost stories that have made the ship famous over the years.

And honestly, even if you don’t believe in hauntings, there’s something about the Queen Mary at night that feels eerie in the best way. The creaking floors, the empty hallways, the old photographs, the feeling that the ship remembers every person who’s stepped onboard.

It’s part history museum, part time capsule, part paranormal icon and completely unlike anywhere else in California.

If you’re someone who loves history, old Hollywood glamour, spooky lore, or just exploring places that still feel alive with stories, add this one to your list.
