P.O.W., A Sailor's Story presents a detailed account of the hardship and deprivation suffered by Ralph Carlo Poness, U.S. Navy, during World War 11. Within hours, a Japanese Marine landing party forced the men into groups of ten. They marched each group to the edge of a cliff about 75 feet above the water's edge. They poked and prodded the men with their bayonets, tearing off clothes in some cases. They began to jeer and ridicule those who were shaking with fear and terror. This event signaled the cruel treatment the men would face for the next three and one-half years until the war ended.
