Yesterday was 1 for the books. I had the honor of being a boat captain in this year's Take a Vet Fishing NFP eagle river event. It was my first encounter with the organization and I couldn't be more impressed. I went up friday to scout as I've never fished this body of water and the winds made my plan difficult but I found a few spots to try. After a nice breakfast and opening ceremony I took 2 of our nation's finest out in search of some fish to bring home. I love it when a plan comes together. After a super foggy morning we set out and worked some sunken timber and we're rewarded with a nice bounty of perch, we kept what we wanted and threw back countless others and even a surprise walleye. All of our fish were caught on slip bobbers with medium fatheads from Scotties Bait and Tackle 3 Lakes WI (thank you for all the help and all you do for veterans scottie!) My guests were really impressed with the sensitivity and durable rods from Elk River Rods & Outfitters (which you can now purchase at scotties!!) The FINS Braids crappie line performed galiantly like always and overall it was a phenomenal day on the water!

Northbound!! Super excited to be boat #15 at the Take a Vet Fishing NFP eagle river event tomorrow, just hope i can find a fun bite to show these vets how awesome these Elk River Rods & Outfitters rods are in the fall!

Nothing beats fishing with friends. We couldn't fish the area in had planned due to some of the worst algae bloom I've ever seen, but we found a fun smallmouth bite on the river. We put the Elk River Rods & Outfitters jug shot series to work running some FINS Braids wind tamer. The smallest didn't stand a chance, we even had a double as well!! Thank you Jared and Katelyn for a fun afternoon in the boat.

And they're off! I think about last years trip daily, and am so thankful for the new relationships built and the positive impact its had on my life. I will be there Sunday to welcome these heroes home!
