TikTok is building a new version of its app for users in the United States ahead of a planned sale of the app to a group of investors, The Information reported on Sunday, citing unnamed sources.

This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he will start talking to China on Monday or Tuesday about a possible TikTok deal.

Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT.O), opens new tab launched its TV streaming platform, Truth+, globally on Monday, featuring the cable channel Newsmax to support the company's expansion.

The move also allows conservative news outlet Newsmax (NMAX.N), opens new tab, which went public in March, to increase its presence outside the United States.

Trump Media said users can now access streaming channels and on-demand video through Truth+ apps on iOS, Android, web, and connected TV platforms, including Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku.

Within hours of taking office in January, President Donald Trump boasted about attracting $3 trillion in new corporate investments to the United States. Since then, Trump has said the investments have swelled to $14 trillion, or roughly half of the nation's annual gross domestic product.

The White House calls it "The Trump Effect" and features a rolling list on its website of more than 70 projects it says Trump's economic policies spurred, from a new bakery plant in Texas to a LEGO facility in Virginia and a microchip plant in Arizona.

Greece closed the Acropolis for several hours Tuesday as a second major heat wave gripped the country, with temperatures expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius (107.6 degrees Fahrenheit).

Last week, large parts of Western Europe sweltered in a severe heat wave that left eight dead and triggered forest fires and health alerts across the region.

In Athens, temperatures were expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius, forcing authorities to close the Acropolis, its most visited ancient site, on a rocky hill offering barely any shade, at midday from 10 a.m. GMT until 2 p.m. GMT.

Defying the heat, some tourists visited the monument before it shut.

Microsoft is cutting thousands of jobs in its second major round of layoffs in recent months.

The tech giant began sending out layoff notices Wednesday.

The company declined to say how many people would be laid off but said that it will comprise less than 4% of the workforce it had a year ago.

Microsoft said the cuts will affect multiple teams around the world, including its sales division and its Xbox video game business.

The firm is the flagship subsidiary of South Korean giant Samsung Group, by far the largest of the family-controlled conglomerates that dominate business in Asia's fourth-largest economy.

Justice Renee Pomerance said the killer deliberately drove his truck into the Afzaal family who were out for a walk on the evening of June 6, 2021. Salman Afzaal, 46, his 44-year-old wife, Madiha Salman, 15-year-old daughter, Yumna and her 74-year-old grandmother, Talat Afzaal, were killed in the attack, while the couple’s 9-year-old son was seriously hurt but survived.

Global Diplomacy Index places Türkiye on 3rd place, behind China, US

The report visualizes the diplomatic networks of 66 countries and territories in Asia, the Group of 20 and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Türkiye has 252 diplomatic missions spread across the globe just behind China and the U.S., which have 274 and 271, respectively, it said.

"Among the various forms of national power – economic, military and technological – diplomacy has been one of the most undercounted, and thus often overlooked, levers of influence,” said the report.
