Thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread this evening. Large hail and a few isolated tornadoes are possible initially, with the threat transitioning to damaging winds as storms move south and east overnight.

⛈️ Severe Weather Possible Sunday

Severe thunderstorms may develop Sunday from the Central High Plains into parts of the Mid-Mississippi Valley.

Storms could begin during the morning across portions of Kansas and Missouri before shifting eastward through the day. Additional storm development may occur from northeast Oklahoma into eastern Missouri and parts of Illinois.

The primary hazards appear to be large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes, depending on how the weather pattern evolves.

Farther west across the Central High Plains, scattered thunderstorms may develop behind a frontal boundary, with some storms capable of producing large hail and strong winds.

Details will continue to become clearer over the next couple of days, but Sunday is a period worth monitoring for potential severe weather.

⚠️ Enhanced Risk Areas Highlight Today's Severe Weather Threat ⚠️

A dangerous severe weather setup is expected across portions of the Northern Plains and Kansas this afternoon and evening, with thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

Across the Dakotas and into Nebraska, storms may organize into powerful complexes capable of wind gusts up to 70 MPH. Tornadoes, including the potential for a few strong tornadoes, cannot be ruled out. Storms are expected to continue eastward overnight, with damaging winds remaining the primary concern.

Farther south, an Enhanced Risk is also in place across parts of Kansas. Severe thunderstorms in this region could produce significant wind damage and large hail, while a few tornadoes remain possible.

Meanwhile, isolated severe storms may develop across portions of the Midwest and Ohio Valley, where a very unstable atmosphere could support pockets of severe weather.

Stay weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive warnings if you live within any of the threatened areas.
