🎶 New Release! 💃
We’re thrilled to announce The Rim of the Well — a stunning new work for guitar and marimba by composer, performer, and ethnomusicologist Steve Mullins.

Mullins, known for his mastery of flamenco and classical guitar, has performed with ensembles across Colorado and beyond. His music bridges cultures and genres, drawing on decades of study in world music traditions and a deep understanding of flamenco aesthetics.

In The Rim of the Well, Mullins weaves the 12-beat bulerías rhythm with the Hungarian Roma Scale, inspired by Federico García Lorca’s idea that true art arises from risk — “as if one were dancing on the rim of the well.”

Featuring the rarely heard alzapua technique, this piece invites performers into a thrilling dialogue of rhythm, tension, and beauty.

🍻 New Release: Hymns for Ninkasi by Brett William Dietz

Written for four percussionists of varying instrumentation, Hymns for Ninkasi is dedicated to the Ninkasi Percussion Quartet — Gregory Lyons, Gustavo Miranda, Oliver Molina, and Joe W. Moore III.

Inspired by Ninkasi, the Sumerian goddess of beer and brewing, this work reflects both the joy and chaos associated with her domain. The original Hymn to Ninkasi dates back to around 1800 BCE, making it one of the world’s oldest known hymns. The eight movements can be performed individually or as a complete set.

👑 About the Composer
Brett William Dietz is the Carolyn Mattax Professor of Percussion and Director of Percussion Studies at Louisiana State University, where he also directs Hamiruge – The LSU Percussion Group.

🎶 New Release: Sonata by Éric Sammut 🎶

Commissioned by Wang Yuyan in 2021, Sonata is a captivating three-movement work inspired by the great classical masters — with a nod to Beethoven himself.

🎬 Enjoy these three video clips!
Performed by: Katarzyna Myćka & Filip Mercep.

✨ The first movement embraces a traditional form and harmonic structure.
🎵 The second explores rhythmic complexity, balanced by sweet, lyrical melodies.
🔥 The third pays tribute to the Brazilian classic “Tico Tico” by Zequinha de Abreu, featuring a lively interlude in 7/8 before returning to its Latin flair.

Throughout, the marimba and vibraphone trade themes and accompaniments, creating a dynamic interplay and exciting challenge for performers.

A brilliant new addition to the percussion repertoire — inventive, expressive, and unmistakably Sammut.
