So here is an update for the car accident that happened yesterday on RT 93 in Nesquehoning, that prompted the response from Nesquehoning FD, Jim Thorpe FD, Nesquehoning PD, Lehighton EMS, and a Life Flight.

We are sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the firefighters, first responders, and their families affected by the tragic ambush in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

No one should face danger while answering the call to serve and protect their community.

July 4th Admission to Mauch Chunk Lake Park Beach/Swimming/Picnic area will be limited to Carbon County Residents, Season Pass Holders, and Campers.

Road closed for paving work ⚠️

Second Street will be closed to through traffic between Alum Street and Summit Avenue for paving beginning tomorrow, June 27 and ending on Tuesday, July 1. This closure will include the entire intersection of Second & Alum.

Residents will be able to access all streets leading up to the work site, but all vehicle and foot traffic will be re-directed from the project area. Please be mindful of road closure signs and traffic cones.

If you place your trash receptacles on Second Street, place them on the sidewalk on Monday evening, as usual. If Tamaqua Transfer is unable to collect your garbage, Lehighton Public Works will collect it.

Please make prior arrangements to move vehicles from the street and from garages. Once asphalt is laid, the area will remain closed until barricades have been removed.

Any alterations to this schedule due to weather will be posted here and at Borough Hall.
