On a Boat Named Charley

Hi! Does anyone have any info they'd like to share regarding a Loop side-trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, MI (upper peninsula)? It's about a 110 mile trip from Sault Ste. Marie. We've been there before while RVing and took a tour boat. But we would love to experience it on our own boat. The Lakeshore has some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen! (We did not take these pictures! Pictures are from Google for reference.) Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

A big belated thank you to Jib and Teresa on To Boldly Go! These fellow loopers (and new great friends) came aboard our boat for the day to help us do the 9 Chambly Locks, then had an "entertaining" taxi ride back, I'm told. We really enjoyed their company and their stories.

I continue to be overwhelmed by loopers' generosities. I truly do not think we'd still be on the loop without everyone's help. (I'm the one with ALS.) So, thank you to everyone along the way!

Enjoyed some much-needed downtime during the afternoon storms in Ontario. Watched an octopus documentary and some Netflix in the guest cabin. Snug as a bug on a tug! (Ok, we're not on a tug, but it rhymed.) 🐙🩷

Day 36-41... Continued our fun with our great friends, Cathy & Kris! We made stops at Donovan's Shady Harbor, Schuyler Yacht Club, Whitehall City Wall, Basin Harbor Boat Club & Marina, before saying good-bye to them at Ferry Dock Marina in Burlington, VT. Lots of memories were made and I'm so grateful we we able to spend such quality time together! ❤️❤️

Had a great birthday (last week)! 🥳 I was originally bummed that nothing was open on Tuesdays, but our friends (Cathy & Kris) and the looper gang made it a special evening! We grilled out, had docktails, and I even got a BD song from Dr. Brian (Brileen)! Thank you, everyone, for the memories! 😘

Crazy thing...We had the best burger ever last night at Bottoms Up Bar & Grill. Susie, the owner, took great care of us and even shared her friend's chocolate chip cookies with us. She was telling us about the big Sasquatch Calling Festival that takes place in Whitehall in September. She said that people come from other countries, it's gotten so big!

As we made our way back to the boat after dinner, we were talking about the festival. Then when we got on board, we found another stow-away! It was him...Sasquatch himself! So, we let him stay and we all enjoyed listening to his stories this morning over coffee.

He'll stay with us until Canada. Then he said he'll hike back to Whitehall in time for the festival. So watch out for him in September! He'll be lurking in the shadows and stealing Susie's cookies!

Day 35...Left Haverstraw with our stow-aways, Cathy and Kris, for their first day on the water, and headed to Kingston, NY. We had a beautiful ride up the Hudson River and enjoyed seeing all the unique lighthouses. We stayed in front of the Hudson River Maritime Museum and did a quick tour.

Happy Hour drinks and appetizers followed at Savona's Trattoria & Bar. Gave away lots of treats to dogs walking their owners. Then we met some other loopers at Union Street Brewing Co., and ended up at The Cornell Restaurant & Bar. Beautiful place!

And the day is never complete without my frozen Edward's Key Lime Pie before bed! 😋

Made our trip home and back to Safe Harbor Haverstraw, but found a couple stow-aways on board! Guess we'll just have to train them to be part of the crew! Hope they don't eat much! 😄
