Massachusetts fires back at the Trump administration's $7 million homeland security cut, decrying it as "punitive payback," yet federal officials counter that it's essential reform to end Biden-era "piggy bank" waste on "radical" sanctuary havens fueling migrant-linked chaos throughout Massachusetts cities.

Massachusetts has filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging that a $6.9 million cut in homeland security grants constitutes unlawful retaliation for the state's reluctance to redirect local resources toward federal immigration enforcement efforts. The Department of Homela

Meet Joycelyn, born and raised right here in New Bedford and now the newest Kilburn Mill Ambassador.

For Joycelyn, the Mill has always held a special place in her heart. She’s been walking through its doors since she was about eight years old, back when her Uncle Mike had a booth downstairs at the flea market long before it became the antique shop it is today. She’d come to help him sell items every week and fell in love with the mill.

Now, decades later, she’s part of the Kilburn story in a whole new way. As an ambassador, Joycelyn greets visitors at the door on weekends, helps guide them to the shops or studios they’re looking for, and loves recommending hidden gems throughout the building. She says her favorite part of the job is the people, the interesting conversations, familiar faces, and new connections she makes every day.

Joycelyn found out about the position through Tito at the flea market and says it’s been the perfect fit ever since. She’s thrilled to be part of what she calls “a marvelous transformation” of the Mill and loves supporting the small businesses that make it thrive.

If you see Joycelyn next time you’re exploring Kilburn Mill, be sure to say hello. You’ll instantly feel right at home.
