The Siren Highlighting creative community activity Welcome to the online scene of "The Siren" -- New Bedford's very own art magazine.

Each month you can read individual artist and musican/band interviews, the AHA! Night Review, enjoy local illustrations & comics, and check out the upcoming art-related events around the area! New Bedford and Fall River are cities with a rich history, where artists of all sorts are living and working currently. Our goal is to spread the word and to celebrate all those local talents, creating a collaborative environment!

Want to start the year with an awesome arts and culture centered event?

Come experience the closing of Artist-in-Residence Alex Houston’s powerful residency at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

This Saturday, January 10 | 2–4 PM, Alex invites the community to her final showing and closing reception, Quilting Urban Renewal. Through intricate textile mapping and quilt work, Alex’s project explores the lasting impacts of urban renewal in New Bedford—revealing stories of demolished homes, displaced families, and the highways that reshaped the city.

This residency, sustained even through a period of shutdown, is a testament to community, care, and the power of art to hold history with honesty and nuance. Come experience the work, meet the artist, and celebrate the culmination of this thoughtful and moving project.
