MISSION

Democratic Women of Craven County is an active member of the Democratic Women of North Carolina, which is dedicated to engaging women with the work of the Democratic Party. We work to get women to vote, support women who run for office, and work to get Democrats up and down the ticket elected (especially if they are women!). We also represent the voice of the women of North Carolina to th

e North Carolina Democratic Party. If you cannot abide by these standards, do not post on this page. If you do not abide by these standards, your posts will be removed from the page.
1. Be respectful. No name calling or hateful language. Use a respectful tone when speaking to others on this page.
2. No posting for fundraising purposes. Do not solicit funds for yourself or your candidates on this page.
3. We do not allow posts that sling mud, denigrate, or negatively campaign against Democrats.
4. We reserve the right to update these guidelines as needed.

🚨 UPDATE: SCHOOL CLOSED 🚨

Due to the forecasted wintry mix and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our travel routes, Craven County Schools will be CLOSED for all students and staff tomorrow, Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

All after-school activities and athletics are cancelled.

We apologize for the change in plans from the earlier delay announcement, but safety is our number one priority. Stay warm and safe!

New Bern Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30 pm at City Hall, 303 Po***ck Street.

Newly elected members Trey Ferguson (Ward 1), Sharon Bryant (Ward 2), Lainy White (Ward 4), Dana Outlaw (Ward 6) and incumbents Bobby Aster (Ward 3), Barbara Best (Ward 5), and Mayor Jeffrey Odham will be sworn in.

H500 & S438 NC Adopt ERA: Asks North Carolina to ratify the ERA.

H509/SB467 Right to Reproduction Freedom Act: Removes abortion access barriers.

S588 Pregnant Workers Protection Act: Protects pregnant women from discriminatory practices.

S607 Equal Pay Act: Prohibits wage discrimination based on gender.

S351 Right to Start Act: Removes 'women contractors' from the definition of those contractors to be encouraged and promoted.
