BROTHERS IN ACTION: NBAC SUPPORTS FOOD BANK INITIATIVE AT CATERPILLAR SEGUIN PLANT
Story by Bro. Edward S Jones,
NBAC Keeper of Records
This holiday season, as communities across Texas face rising costs and increased need, the New Braunfels (TX) Alumni Chapter (NBAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continues to demonstrate what steadfast and intentional service looks like. On Saturday, December 6, 2025, NBAC members volunteered at a major distribution event hosted at the Caterpillar plant in Seguin, Texas, an initiative coordinated to support the New Braunfels Food Bank’s expanded outreach across the region.
The large-scale effort transformed the Caterpillar facility into a powerful hub of service and impact. Vehicles wound through the plant grounds as families, seniors, and individuals awaited essential food assistance for the holiday season. Working shoulder to shoulder with Food Bank staff and industry volunteers, NBAC brothers loaded boxes, directed traffic, organized supplies, and offered encouragement to those experiencing hardship.
What has become a monthly tradition for NBAC is far more than a routine service project. It is a symbol of unity, purpose, and a commitment to ensuring that no family faces hunger alone, especially when times are tough.
“The need intensifies during the holidays, but so does our responsibility,” said Bro. Kirk A Reed, NBAC Polemarch. “Supporting this Caterpillar and Food Bank initiative shows the impact we can make when corporations, nonprofits, and community organizations stand together.”
The New Braunfels Food Bank, part of the San Antonio Food Bank network, continues to see elevated demand throughout the winter months. By hosting distribution events at major community sites like the Caterpillar plant, the Food Bank expands its capacity to reach underserved areas throughout Guadalupe County.
NBAC’s consistent involvement is deeply rooted in Kappa Alpha Psi’s commitment to achievement and community engagement. For the brothers, service is not an event. It is a lifestyle anchored in compassion and responsibility.
“Our presence is more than volunteer hours,” Reed added. “It represents our dedication to uplifting and strengthening the very communities that support us.”
As the holiday season continues, NBAC encourages residents to support Food Bank efforts through donations, volunteering, and community partnership. When organizations unite for a common good, transformational impact follows, and NBAC remains proud to play its part.
