1862 Richmond rifle musket from the collection of the late Daniel D. Hartzler. Identified and carried by Charles F. Hitzelberger who enlisted in the 1st Maryland Infantry, Company A.
The 62 Richmond is about as good as it gets. It’s in excellent condition and has all of the features collectors wanna see in an authentic Richmond made rifle musket.
All 3 barrel bands are offset, brass butt plate, nose cap that’s screwed on, low hump lock plate that shows well, mules foot under lock plate, original (thin) ramrod and even the original rear sight is present and accounted for.

Spent the afternoon exploring one of my favorite places the world has to offer, the Chancellorsville Battlefield. The visitors center has a wonderful museum, filled with many local artifacts.
My favorite items are the Medical field box used be Dr. Hunter McGuire to amputate Stonewall Jackson’s arm and the uniform of William Hightower of the 23rd Virginia Infantry, May 3rd, 1863 he was wounded in the leg, Drs cut off his pants-leg and amputated his shattered limb unfortunately he died two weeks later.

Beauvoir, French for “Beautiful View” the last home of Jefferson Davis (President of the Confederate States Of America 1861-1865) in Biloxi Mississippi. The home was built in 1852 and was originally situated on over 600 acres, today only 52 acres remain of this American treasure.
The home and much of its contents were almost completely destroyed by hurricane Katrina. Private donations, financial help from local and Federal Government have restored Beauvoir, the Presidential Library and the Confederate Cemetery to there original appearance.
Beauvoir is where Jefferson Davis wrote “The rise and fall of the Confederate Government” parts I & II and the “Short history of the Confederate States Of America” before his death in 1889.
After his death and with the help of the Daughters of the Confederacy the grounds of Beauvoir became a home for Confederate veterans and there families. Hundreds of them are buried on the grounds near the home.
