Do I need a script or storyboard for my video project? --
Read & see below why we did for this project!!
Earlier this year we were able to partner with and John Aaron White to create the official promo video on his recent book release Minivan Manhood!
The goal of the video was to bring the audience into Aarons life, connect them to heart of the book, and lead them to action!
Drawing inspiration from a variety of commercials the shots and pacing was intended to throw the viewer right into the chaos of fatherhood, from the vantage point of the author. Stopping along the way to cause us to see the joy of being a parent.
When diving into this project we decided to tackle it by storyboarding and writing a script.
Here 5 reasons we would take this approach:
1) Scripted Scenes: In narrative videos, such as short films, commercials, or scripted content, a detailed script is crucial. It outlines dialogue, actions, and camera directions.
2) Actors and Dialogue: If the production involves actors and specific lines of dialogue, a script is essential to guide the performance and ensure consistency.
3) Precise Timing: For tightly choreographed scenes, where timing and pacing are critical, a script is invaluable.
4) Guided Direction: Helps the director and crew understand the planned sequence of events.
5) Collaboration: Provides a foundation for collaboration among the director, actors, and crew.
In this case, the storyboard was the easiest and most effective tool in articulating to Aaron what we saw!
Storyboarding isn't for every project, but it is especially helpful in a situation like this with specific scenes, guiding the direction, and collaborating with the client!
