When cinnamon rolls rise to the occasion! A very sweet birthday girl turned 9 yesterday and we served up the celebration softball-style, with homemade sourdough cinnamon rolls fresh from the heart of the kitchen. Batter up for the sweetest year yet!

Today is national Sugar cookie day!

Let me tell you how to make your favorite sugar cookie… but ✨ SOURDOUGH ✨

2 sticks of (226 grams) unsalted butter cold and soft
250 grams cane sugar
2 egg yolks
75 grams sourdough discard
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
300 grams all-purpose flour
10 grams baking powder
6 grams salt

Portion out onto baking sheet and Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes.

Or you can roll out onto cookie sheet (bake for 15-18 and I highly recommend parchment paper) and make a delicious fruit cookie pizza! (Icing is 1 block cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract- honestly measure with your heart). Pick your fruits of choice, I went patriotic with strawberries and blueberries for red white and blue! Raspberries, blackberries, kiwi, and clementines are popular fruits for fruit pizzas. This was a big hit and make sure you take left over fruit for those who like extra toppings! 😉

I’ve been so busy I completely forgot to post these! I had every intention of sharing one a day this week… but, well, life happened.

Last weekend, I prepped for probably the biggest baking event of my life—our annual youth dessert auction! For the auction, I baked 13 dozen sourdough chocolate chip cookies and an Italian herb & cheddar cheese bread loaf. Happy to report that NO CRUMBS were left behind! The youth raised approximately $1500!

On top of that, I made another loaf of bread, a dozen more cookies, and two sourdough pizzas (which didn’t last long at home). All in all, I used over 650 grams of sourdough starter!

And now… we’re doing it all over again—this time to support my daughter’s travel softball team next weekend!
