Netflix buys Warner Bros. for $82 billion (7 photos)
Netflix is buying Warner Bros. for $82 billion! The deal includes the film studio, the film and TV series library, HBO, and the HBO Max streaming service. This means that Harry Potter, DC, Game of Thrones, and (https://t.me/retra) every film made over the past 100 years will now be under the Netflix umbrella.
Just three months after this offer, Paramount and Skydance have come forward. The studio could acquire Warner Bros. Discovery for $108.4 billion (in cash!!!). Paramount made its current offer directly to WBD shareholders.
Paramount is seeking all of WBD, while Netflix is targeting only the Hollywood studios and Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming business. The company claims its deal represents a "superior alternative to the Netflix deal," citing the potential for a lengthy regulatory approval process with an "uncertain outcome." Paramount also emphasizes that this deal would generate $18 billion more cash for shareholders than Netflix's offer.
It's worth noting that Netflix's proposed deal has already raised antitrust concerns, as it would merge two massive streaming platforms into one. Furthermore, President Donald Trump stated that the deal "could be problematic" due to the combined companies' market share. Experts believe the WBD-Paramount deal is likely to raise similar concerns.
