In China, architects and engineers are transforming the way cities generate energy by covering entire skyscrapers with solar panels, effectively turning them into massive vertical power plants. These buildings are designed with high-efficiency photovoltaic panels integrated directly into their facades, windows, and rooftops. Instead of relying solely on ground-based solar farms, this innovation uses the vertical surfaces of urban skyscrapers to capture sunlight from multiple angles throughout the day.

This approach not only produces a significant amount of renewable energy but also helps reduce the buildings’ carbon footprint and dependency on fossil fuels. Some of these solar-clad towers can generate enough electricity to power their own operations, with excess energy fed back into the city’s grid. The panels are often designed to blend seamlessly with the building’s architecture, creating sleek and modern aesthetics without compromising function.

By using the city’s own skyline as a source of power, China is addressing two challenges at once: the need for clean energy and the scarcity of urban space for large-scale renewable projects. These vertical solar power plants also help shade interiors, reducing cooling costs in summer.

This bold move reflects China’s push toward sustainable urban design, proving that even the world’s tallest structures can become engines of clean energy.

Long before digital navigation, the Plus Four Wristlet Route Indicator offered motorists a stylish and innovative way to find their way. Introduced in Britain during the 1920s, this device resembled a wristwatch but housed a manually operated scroll-map inside. Drivers could wear it on their wrist and turn the k***s to display turn-by-turn directions, much like reading a strip of instructions on the go.

The route indicator worked using interchangeable paper scrolls, each pre-printed with directions for specific journeys. Users would insert the correct scroll before setting off and rotate the k***s as they progressed along their route. Though primitive by today’s standards, it was a cutting-edge travel aid at a time when road signs were scarce and maps were bulky. It was especially popular among motorists wearing "plus fours" a type of knickerbocker pants fashionable at the time hence the name.

While the Plus Four Wristlet never became a mass-market essential, it remains a fascinating glimpse into the early intersection of travel, fashion, and technology. Today, it’s a prized collector’s item and a reminder of the creativity sparked by the rapid rise of automobile travel in the early 20th century.

A $100 million F-35C Lightning II fighter jet crashed near Naval Air Station Lemoore in California on July 30 at 4:30 pm during a routine training flight.

The pilot, from the VFA-125 “Rough Raiders” training squadron, ejected safely with no injuries.

This is the second F-35 crash in 2025, following a January accident in Alaska involving an F-35A.

The F-35C is a carrier-based stealth jet developed by Lockheed Martin, part of one of the world’s most expensive military aircraft programs involving 17+ countries. Investigations are ongoing as concerns mount over maintenance and mission-readiness.

Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta will spend hundreds of billions developing AI, including building a data center nearly the size of Manhattan.

Dubbed Prometheus, it will be the first gigawatt-scale AI cluster, with another, Hyperion, scaling up to 5 gigawatts.

Meta is also creating more “titan clusters” and reorganizing its AI efforts under Superintelligence Labs after challenges with Llama 4.

Backed by $165B in ad revenue, Meta’s 2025 capex is projected at $64–72B. The new lab led by Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman aims to lead in artificial general intelligence and monetize AI tools across apps and ads.

In a new effort to fight illegal hunting, scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand launched the Rhisotope Project, where low-level radioactive isotopes are safely injected into rhino horns to make them detectable by standard radiation scanners at airports, ports, and borders.

The radioactive horns could alert authorities during smuggling attempts and also make the horns useless or dangerous for human use—cutting their value on the black market.

The process is safe for the rhinos. Researchers sedate them, drill tiny holes in the horns, and insert the isotopes, which last up to five years—longer and cheaper than repeated dehorning.

After a successful pilot with 20 rhinos, the first five were officially injected in August 2025. The project now plans a nationwide rollout to protect South Africa’s 16,000 rhinos, especially the endangered black and white rhino species.

🚗🔥 They kicked me out of the company I founded… and still, I didn’t give up — I built a better one.
Since I was a child, I dreamed of building cars that were different. Not out of whim, but out of conviction.
I studied engineering and worked for Karl Benz, the pioneer of the automobile.
With hard work, I founded my own company: Horch & Cie.
Everything was going well… until the investors decided they didn’t need me anymore.
They pushed me out of the very company I had created. 💼💔

I felt betrayed. Humiliated.
But not defeated.

The law wouldn’t let me use my own name for a new brand… so I turned to Latin.
“Horch” means “listen” — and in Latin, that’s Audi.

That’s how my new company was born.
With no money, but with experience, knowledge, and fire in my heart.
We started from scratch. We competed, innovated, persisted…
And little by little, we earned our place among the giants. 🛠️🚘

The Great Depression of the 1930s hit us hard.
But instead of disappearing, we joined forces with three other companies to survive.
That’s how the four rings of Audi were born — each one representing a brand that refused to vanish.

Audi isn’t a product of luck.
It’s a story of falling, uniting, resisting… and coming back stronger. 🏁🔗

"Sometimes failure is just the tight curve before you accelerate into your true destiny."

— August Horch, founder of Audi

Tesla’s Cybertruck has officially flopped, with sales hovering around just 20,000 units a year, which is barely 10% of its 250,000-unit capacity.

As a result, Tesla is now considering a smaller pickup truck. VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy hinted at this possibility but emphasized Tesla’s current focus on autonomy and robotaxis.

CEO Elon Musk had previously mentioned a “Plan B” if the Cybertruck failed. Critics argue Tesla’s obsession with self-driving tech has slowed its product pipeline.

This situation is leaving just one new vehicle in five years while competitors like Rivian, Waymo, and Baidu race ahead.
