Husband D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T-S his wife as a “F/A-T M-O-M,” saying “your place is only in the kitchen corner,” and forbids her from attending the wedding party. Upon arriving at the restaurant, he was S-T-U-N-N-E-D to see everyone B-O-W-I-N-G to greet his wife...
“You stay home. The wedding is fancy, full of important guests. If you go, I'd be too E-M-B-A-R-R-A-S-S-E-D.” Hưng said without looking into his wife’s eyes. His voice was tinted with A-N-N-O-Y-A-N-C-E and D-I-S-C-O-M-F-O-R-T. Lan—a wife just over thirty—clutched the hem of her dress. She looked down at her figure after G-I-V-I-N-G B-I-R-T-H three times, the S-T-R-E-T-C-H marks that hadn't faded, her hair quickly tied up, and her face looking exhausted from nights of the baby crying.
She forced a smile: “I just wanted to accompany you for fun. Ms. Hằng invited both husband and wife…”
Hưng waved his hand: “Stop it. Look at yourself. You look like you just came from the countryside. Going with me will only make people L-A-U-G-H. Stay home and watch the kids. I’ll go for a bit and come back. Your place is in the K-I-T-C-H-E-N C-O-R-N-E-R, not a place where people D-R-E-S-S U-P to socialize with business clients.” The sentence was like a S-T-A-B in the heart. Lan turned away, hiding her tears. Over the years, she had become accustomed to being despised by her husband: “messy hair,” “stay-at-home freeloading,” “doesn’t know how to take care of herself.” He didn't know that every night, she would sit in front of the mirror, looking at herself—the woman who once made him I-N-F-A-T-U-A-T-E-D years ago—and only seeing a faded shadow.
That afternoon, Hưng put on his new suit, sprayed cologne, and drove his luxury car to the Royal Palace restaurant, where his cousin's wedding was held. Walking into the splendid lobby, he felt confident that he was the groom's relative, seated at the VIP table. While busy chatting with a few friends, Hưng suddenly noticed all eyes turning toward the large entrance.
