I don’t think a lot of people realize this, but moms don’t actually go on vacation. We just relocate the responsibilities.
Before the trip, we’re making lists nobody else even thought about.
Packing outfits.
Remembering medications.
Charging devices.
Buying snacks.
Checking the weather.
Making sure everyone has what they need.
Then the trip starts.
Everyone else is relaxing by the pool, sleeping in, enjoying the moment…
And Mom is still counting heads.
“Did everyone eat?”
“Who needs sunscreen?”
“Where are the towels?”
“Who has to go to the bathroom?”
“Did we bring the charger?”
“Did someone remember the baby’s cup?”
She’s taking the pictures so everyone else has the memories.
She’s carrying the mental checklist that never fully turns off.
She’s making sure the kids are having fun.
Making sure nobody gets left out.
Making sure everyone gets home with the things they came with.
And most of the time, nobody notices.
Because when a mom is doing it well, it just looks effortless.
But if you’ve ever wondered why Mom comes home from “vacation” needing another vacation…
it’s because she wasn’t just a passenger.
She was the planner.
The packer.
The finder of lost things.
The comforter.
The snack holder.
The schedule keeper.
The one making sure the people she loves got to enjoy themselves.
So if you’re a mom reading this, I hope you know this:
The work you do that nobody applauds still matters.
And if you’re married to a good mom…
notice her.
Because while everyone else was making memories, she was quietly making sure those memories could happen in the first place.
