In a crowded hospital room, a terrified little boy cried endlessly. Nothing worked—until a nearby officer asked, “Would it help if I held him?”
The child was placed in his arms, and almost instantly, the sobs stopped. Resting against the officer’s chest, he drifted into sleep. The heavy vest and gear didn’t matter; the officer stayed, steady and calm, until the boy felt safe.
When asked why, he simply said, “It was instinct. He just needed someone to hold him.”
Because sometimes, the greatest act of service is quiet comfort.
