From Our Friends At the Monroe County TDC:
On Friday morning, the Florida House voted to approve two bills, House Bill 7033 and House Bill 1221 , that will:
Severely restrict future investment in tourism marketing
Eliminate Tourist Development Councils (TDCs)
Reduce (originally 100%, now 75%) the amount of non-contracted tourist development taxes to be redirected to offset property taxes
This will still have a dire impact on our tourism economy in Monroe County and Florida overall.
What happens next is that Senate negotiations will begin next week.
Please immediately contact Senator Anna Maria Rodriguez, representing Monroe County, and other members of the Senate to oppose this legislation and let them know the negative impact it will have for your business, livelihood and way of life.
