Tomorrow night, see Avi Jacob in his Sinner’s Circle debut!

Born into a Jewish family in Boston, Massachusetts, Avi Jacobs is the son of historian Robert Michael, a noted Historian of the Holocaust. Avi first started performing original folk concerts at age 14 and immersed himself in the city’s vibrant DIY music scene. He became involved with The Whitehaus Family Record, releasing several early recordings as he honed his craft as a songwriter and performer.

In 2010, Avi relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, to pursue a professional music career. He began playing small festivals, gaining recognition through music blogs and compilation releases. He later co-wrote “All the Liars,” performed by Diana DeMuth and released in 2020.

Avi independently released the song “Cannonball” on social media in 2014. The following year, in December 2015, Counting Crows invited him to CMJ, labeling him “an emerging folk superstar.” That same year, A&R Report featured him as an artist to watch.

His EP “Surrender” was produced by Simone Felice, known for his work on The Lumineers’ Billboard #1 album “Cleopatra,” and included contributions from members of The Felice Brothers. In May 2020, Avi released his album “Preservation” via Bandcamp. Avi won a 2022 New England Music Award.

Hawk in the Nest is Avi’s latest, full band project, which blends elements of folk, Americana, and R&B. The band was recently highlighted in Rolling Stone UK.

It’s gonna be a great show! Info/ticket link below ⬇️

Meet Eddie Seville!

“Somewhere between Springsteen and Steve Earle.” – The Welcomat

That’s some sweet spot! Eddie Seville gained a reputation for visceral live shows and gritty songwriting as the voice and creative force behind the outlaw rock band Steel Rodeo. As a solo artist, he’s an engaging raconteur who’s left a trail of grins, winks and nods in theaters, roadhouses and festival gatherings around the US, Europe and Canada.

Drawing from folk, roots and country blues, he’s written songs released on Island, Atlantic and Universal Records with music aired on three US television networks and HBO. Authenticity and lyrical depth has led to Eddie’s songs being recorded by various artists that include the late George Kooymans of the band Golden Earring, who covered “Ticket to Heaven” on the 2022 Mirage album and also “Blind Love,” which Sony released as a European single. Seville’s three-chord rocker “Carol Ann” is included in The Essential Western New England Songbook and his alt-country ballad “One More Guitar” launched an ad campaign and a signature acoustic by the Netherlands-based Homestead Guitar Company.

Eddie’s work spans many projects with veteran rock producer Paul Orofino, as well as recording & touring with notable artists including Frank Carillo (Peter Frampton / Tim Hardin), Danny Miranda (Queen), Matt Cartsonis (Warren Zevon), Simon Kirke (Free / Bad Company) and Augie Meyers (Texas Tornados / Bob Dylan).

Eddie rightly joins a wonderful crop of fresh “Sinners” next Friday 2/27 in the Garde’s Oasis Room! Details ⬇️

Meet Allysen Callery!

Allysen Callery is a self-taught singer-songwriter from Bristol, RI, whose delicate, mesmerizing sound has been compared to classic British folk artists like Sandy Denny and Nick Drake. A favorite on the RI folk scene, her music has found its way overseas and has been embraced by listeners in the UK and Europe.

Paste Magazine writes: “Her lilting voice and heartfelt lyrics are eerily close to the work of the late British songstress Sandy Denny, the highest compliment I could hand down to this brilliant artist.”

In 2020, Callery released “Ghost Folk”, an album which made Folk Radio UK’s coveted Top Albums of the Year. Austria’s Guteshoerenistwichtig also named it Album of the Year, saying: “Somehow (her voice) seems to come from somewhere else. Traveled through the clouds or gone through the stones. Her music is neither spooky nor eerie, but rather surrounded by a kind of positive mysticism and a familiar strangeness, radiating charm and a generous flair.”

Callery was named Motif Magazine RI’s Favorite Folk Act in 2022 and 2023, and won their Best Female Vocalist (Americana) award in 2019. She regularly tours in Germany and Switzerland, and domestically from Maine to New York City.

Catch Allysen live at the next Sinners Circle on Friday, Feb. 27! Details ⬇️
