OPINIONS | In November 2025, a new song began circulating and gaining traction on TikTok. The song, “I Run” by HAVEN., seemed to become instantly popular across many social media platforms. However, within a few weeks of its release, suspicions started circulating that the song was in fact a product of AI.

NEWS | As much of New England braced for what would soon become the Blizzard of 2026, members of Connecticut College’s Girls Who Code College Loop were already in Cambridge, Massachusetts, representing Conn at Harvard’s WECode, the world’s largest student-run women-in-tech conference. For Girls Who Code Connecticut College, led by co-president Sababa Ahmed ’27, attending WECode marked both an educational milestone and a statement of intent.

ARTS | Art major Lauren Rochford ’26 is an independently driven graphic designer, contributing her skills and talents to her coursework, her studies abroad in Copenhagen, Connecticut College’s fashion and literature publication Gray Area Magazine, and even the state of Connecticut as their graphic design intern this summer. “I came into Conn knowing I wanted to be an art major, but not really what I wanted to do with it,” Lauren said.

NEWS | For the past semester and a half, SGA’s Committee on Student Representation Reformation has been reevaluating the way SGA is run, developing a new system of representation that will make student government more equitable, more efficient, and more representative of campus culture. The current House Senator system, in place since 1988, can no longer equitably represent Conn’s student population.

OPINIONS | Turning Point USA has come to Connecticut College. I believe this reflects poorly on our institution. Like many of you, I was surprised when I saw a picture of a TPUSA flyer with a professor’s email on it, so I reached out to Professor Andrew Pessin to learn more about his involvement. It turns out that he and I have some fundamental disagreements about the nature of clubs, free speech, and diversity of thought at Connecticut College.

OPINIONS | Growing up in Evanston, Illinois, a city that tends to vote around 90–95% Democrat, conservative ideas were, to put it gently, non-existent. The narrative that your parents and teachers pushed was the reality; it was the truth. We were the good guys and those who disagreed with us were motivated by pure evil, or at the very least, completely uninformed.

ARTS | On campus, visual art thrives in spots like Coffee Shops, the MOBROC barn, the bike shop, and Humphreys Pub, all student-led spaces. An end-of-semester art sale displays ceramics and prints to support student artists. Yet there are no open studios or work areas for visual art, other than senior studios.

“As an artist, the space for art-making is lacking. A quiet corner to experiment, fail, and refine ideas turns fleeting sketches into shared work. Without it, visual art stays solitary, disconnected from the campus energy that fuels dance rehearsals or theatre runs,” Elaine Sandoval Carrasco ‘27 writes.

NEWS | On Monday, February 9, Connecticut College announced management of the library cafe space currently leased by Blue Camel Cafe will transition from longtime Blue Camel Cafe owner Lorelai Frantz to the student-run Conn Coffee organization. As a result, current Conn Coffee location Coffee Grounds will transform into a community space, reducing the total number of coffee shops on campus from three to two.

Frantz was not informed of the College’s decision to decline to renew the lease until February 6th. “I was a little surprised,” Frantz shared. “I knew it was certainly a possibility but being so late in the semester I really thought they were going to renew.”
