Graham Cracker, Marshmallow & Hershey have something to say 📣

Starting October 8th, the shelter will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC through October 28th. ❤️

This temporary change is due to staffing limitations and the many responsibilities that come with caring for the animals in our shelter. Our top priority is making sure every animal continues to receive the care, attention, cleaning, feeding, enrichment, medical care, and love they deserve. 🐶🐱❤️

✨ BUT DON’T WORRY, WE’RE STILL HERE!

🐾 Appointments will continue as normal!
🐾 Meet & greets are still available by appointment!
🐾 Adoptions are still happening!
🐾 Interested in one of our animals? Reach out and we’ll get you scheduled!

And just because our doors are temporarily closed to walk-in visitors doesn’t mean you won’t see us around! 👀🐾

🎃 We have several events happening out in the community this month, and we can’t WAIT to see you there! Come say hi, meet our team, support the shelter, and maybe even meet a few of our adoptable animals along the way. 🐶🐱💚

📞 Need an appointment or meet & greet? Just reach out!

And keep an eye on our page for all of our upcoming community events. We hope to see you out there! 🎃🐾

THIS JUST IN FOR THE 6 PM NEWS…

Making headlines this evening: Eva, reporting onsite from Wetzel County Animal Shelter for Channel WCAS7 in New Martinsville.

September numbers are in, Waggin’ & Wheels made news, our spay/neuter grant is hard at work, and apparently October is the month Eva has decided we ARE finding some of these long-term residents HOME. No pressure, Wetzel County. The anchor has spoken.

Tune in for the full report below — because Eva has the numbers, the scoop, and absolutely no journalism degree whatsoever.

She would also like it noted that she is only being paid in treats but will continue reporting until she finds a home of her own. At that point, Channel WCAS7 will be accepting applications for her replacement. Must work for snacks.

That’s the news from WCAS7. Now help us make next month’s headline: “LONG-TERM RESIDENTS FIND HOMES!”

Share, share, SHARE!

BOO-HOO… HOW ARE WE STILL HERE?! 👻

Spooky season is here and somehow NO ONE has claimed us as their cozy-season buddy?!

We’re talking:
🎃 Fall walks
👻 Couch cuddles
🍿 Movie marathons
🛋️ Blanket stealing
🧡 And someone to haunt your couch ALL winter long.

Forget the ghosts — the scariest thing this Halloween is another cozy season spent in a shelter kennel.

We need YOU.

Come meet your favorite little ghoul at WCAS.

And SHARE, SHARE, SHARE — because haunting Facebook is hard without opposable thumbs. 👻

Our neuter spots filled VERY quickly — thank you to everyone who applied!

We have kept all contact information should any additional appointments become available.

Just a quick clarification: these openings were specifically for MALE CATS. If you didn’t receive a call this time, it may be because:

Others applied before you, OR

Your request was for a female cat or a dog.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and the incredible response to this assistance program. Every spay and neuter makes a difference!

Feel Like Somebody’s Watching Your Feed???👀👀

It’s Sonny and Atlas….

🎃 STOP SCROLLING — THEY NEED 150 SHARES MINIMUM…. they would share themselves but….. no opposable thumbs, no social media…. BIG problem- they are counting on YOU!

These handsome little goblins have been at WCAS far too long. They were never meant to check in and never check out. The shelter is their safe place — NOT their home.

So yep… they’re officially haunting your feed until somebody chooses them. 👻

Our spooky-season goal: 4 long-termers HOME this month. Every adoption is a WIN.

🧡 Long-Termer Special: $25 with approved application

We have 2,000+ followers… 150 SHARES should be easy, right?!

SHARE. SHARE. SHARE. Let’s get these boys outta here.

Because the only treat Sonny & Atlas want this Halloween is a home of their very own. 🎃🏠

🚨 BETSY HAS AN ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

“Due to our staff being a little short-handed today thanks to sickness, AND because these humans are busy getting everything ready for the colder weather, the shelter will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC TODAY.”

But don’t worry, they’re still taking care of us and making sure we’re all ready for the cold! 🐾

Also, if anyone is looking to adopt me and get me out of here, I’m packed, I’m ready, and I can be picked up whenever. Apparently, I’m just waiting on my chauffeur.

Thank you for understanding while our staff catches up, gets prepared, and keeps everyone safe and cozy! ❤️🐶🐱

Betsy facts:
dog friendly
cat friendly
people friendly - needs proper introduction
