Back then: Robert Jones, a teenager arrested and later convicted for crimes he did not commit.

Now: Robert Jones is a New Orleans native and Exoneree for serving more than 23 years in prison for crimes he did not commit. Mr. Jones re-educated himself in various college-level subjects, including all aspects of law for more than 20 years. Since being a freed man and cleared of all charges in 2017. Mr. Jones now a well‐known community activist, Community organizer, serial entrepreneur, Real Estate Investor, Published Author, Director of Community Outreach and Asst manager of The Resentencing Reentry Unit for the Orleans Public Defenders office, the Co‐founder of Free‐Dem Foundations, Inc.; a nonprofit organization that mentors and guides youth in a positive direction. He also sit on several boards and committees, such as: Innocent Project New Orleans,, New Orleans City Council Advisory Committee, Advisory Board for the Center for Racial Justice at Dillard University of New Orleans and The New Orleans Community Advisory Group of the McArthur Safety and Justice Challenge Initiative.
In addition, he is the recipient of many prestigious awards including The Fellows of American Bar Foundation, The Paris Bar Association Bronze medal of Justice Award ,The 2019 New Orleans Martinet Legal Society’s Earl Amdee Award for a non-lawyer advancing justice in New Orleans and the 2022 Southern University Annual Civil Rights and Social Justice Award.
