It’s time to throw up 🤎🤍🩶🖤

I was walking in Harlem about three years ago and I saw a woman I used to go to High School with walking past me (🤯). Mind you, I haven’t seen this girl in almost a decade and there we were, walking past one another in New York.
I called out her name and we began to briefly catch up. The first words out of her mouth were praises for my small poetry reels. She mentioned how she saved and re-watched them and how they’ve encouraged her throughout the years. I politely nodded and thanked her for her kind words. We went on our way and I’ve never seen her since.
Little did she know that I was knee deep in the worst year of my life. My voice felt broken and I figured that it really wouldn’t matter that I stopped sharing my poetry.
Now—-🙏🏽✝️, more healed than I have ever been before and with renewed identity and strength—-her words replay in my mind; I’ve thought about them often. Reflecting back, I realize that it was a divine appointment. God, seeing me from far off and whispering something in my ear that I would understand later just like the good father He is—looking out for His children, even when we betray ourselves 🤎🤍🩶🖤.
I’ve treasured the words that the young woman said to me all this time…
I’m excited to see how this freshened chapter of poetry, art and creativity unfold in my life. I feel stronger and more confident in my gift because I realize now more than ever, that it’s not for me, but to spread goodness, joy and love from the heart of God to others who need light in their darkness.
Hopefully this encourages you to have hope.
