“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.” ― Robert Louis Stevenson.

Alright, my friends, today we’re talking about three eateries you need to visit when you’re in Washington, DC, and the first one technically lives in Georgetown, but we’re not going to get overly legalistic about geography before dessert. 😂🧁

Georgetown is absolutely beautiful, and every time I’m here, I’m completely smitten by it, right up until I remember there is absolutely no way I could ever live here. That’s a story for another day.

But if you’re in the DC area, my number one must-stop is Georgetown Cupcake.
Now, I’m pretty sure it’s a city ordinance that you have to buy two cupcakes, because every cupcake needs a buddy, and frankly, dessert is always better when it arrives as a small team. 🧁

Besides, if you’re walking around taking photos, telling stories, and pretending you’re not slowly destroying your feet on city sidewalks, you need to keep your strength up. And what better way to do that than with empty carbs, heroic amounts of sugar, and frosting that makes you question every responsible decision you’ve ever made? My personal favorites? Chocolate Squared and Red Velvet, because that cheesecake frosting is dangerously good. Like, “I should probably walk another three miles to justify this” good. 😎

Moral of the story: if you’re in the DC area, stop by Georgetown Cupcake, grab a couple of cupcakes, and enjoy one of life’s simple truths: photography is better with snacks.

My friends, don’t forget to have a fantastically blessed day wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, and never stop being amazing.

Alright, my friends, let’s talk about the Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III VXD G2, aka the “I don’t want to carry five lenses today” lens. 😎📸

This thing has best-in-class all-in-one zoom energy written all over it. Wide enough at 25mm for landscapes, street, travel, and everyday storytelling. Then it stretches all the way to 200mm for portraits, details, compression, and those “I’m not walking over there” moments.
And because Tamron apparently enjoys making our lives easier, it stays compact, lightweight, and practical while still giving you serious performance.

We’re talking 575g, moisture-resistant construction, a 67mm filter size, fast VXD autofocus, and Tamron’s excellent 6-year limited warranty. Not too shabby for one lens that can live on your camera most of the day. 🙌

This is the kind of lens that makes sense for travel, events, street photography, family adventures, content creation, and anyone who wants one lens that can handle a ridiculous amount of situations without turning your camera bag into a chiropractor’s retirement plan. 😅🎒

The SOTSU 16" Pro Elite monitor is back in action, my friends, and this time, we’re talking real-world hotel room workflow. 💻🏨✨

Whether I’m in a hotel, Airbnb, airport lounge, or whatever temporary command center I happen to be calling “home” for the day, this monitor has become one of the handiest additions to my road kit in the last couple of years. And I don’t say that lightly, because I’ve hauled enough gear around to qualify for emotional damages. 😂🎒

The beauty of the SOTSU is simple: it takes up very little space, but adds a ton to the workflow. It’s roughly 16 inches, slim, lightweight, and so much easier to travel with than the old monitor I used to drag around like I was moving into every hotel room permanently.

I’ve been using it for about five months now, and whether I’m editing photos, cutting video, answering emails, or pretending I’m organized while surrounded by cables and camera batteries, this thing has absolutely earned its place in the kit. Easy setup. Small footprint. Big productivity boost. That’s a win. 🙌

If you create on the road, this is one of those tools that makes you wonder why you waited so long to add it.

Today’s Washington, DC street setup for Police Week 2026: the Leica CL paired with the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 L-Mount. 😎📸
And let me tell you, I am absolutely loving this little combination. On the Leica CL’s APS-C sensor, that 45mm gives me roughly a 67mm full-frame equivalent, which makes it small, compact, and borderline lethal on the street. The good kind of lethal, obviously. We’re taking photos, not starting international incidents. 😂

Unfortunately, Leica discontinued the CL a couple of years ago, but in my opinion, when this camera came out, it was ahead of its time. Small body, beautiful files, simple controls, and that “just go shoot” energy that makes photography feel fun again.

Pair it with the Sigma 45mm f/2.8, and you’ve got a setup you can carry all day without feeling like you brought a kettlebell to a photo walk. It’s lightweight, sharp, and just quirky enough to have personality, which, frankly, is how all good camera gear should be. 🎞️✨

And remember what I’ve said before, my friends: it’s not necessarily what you have in your hand, it’s how you use it to tell your story.

The SOTSU 16-inch Elite monitor has made its triumphant return, my friends. 💻✨
Now, I’m not going to lie, there were some issues with the first one. But the guys and gals at SOTSU took fantastic care of me and had me back up and running in no time. I’ll give you the full breakdown on that experience another day, but for now, just know this:
I’m back in the game. 😎🙌

And speaking of being back in the game, I’m also back on the road. And if I’m back on the road, you already know where I am: the Admirals Lounge. What can I say? I’m only bougie every now and again, and apparently “every now and again” means whenever there’s coffee, Wi-Fi, and snacks involved. ☕️📶

Destination: Washington, DC, to cover 2026 National Police Week once again. This will be my eighth year covering the event, but my ninth year being a participant, and I couldn’t be more honored. It gives me the opportunity to see friends I don’t get to see nearly enough and, more importantly, to help tell their stories. 🎥📸

So stay tuned for daily updates from the road. We’ll talk about the places I’m going, the people I’m seeing, and the gear I’m using to bring it all home.
