Today is the 18th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. THEE hurricane of OUR generation. The event that shifted our culture in a way that we’re still recovering from. I think we’re just realizing that we can’t get back what we’ve lost and that is why the process of rebuilding has been so lengthy. We’ve spent all of those years waiting for things to look and feel the way they used to. We’re just realizing that we have to move forward and the memories will just have to do. Hey love!

The New Orleans Museum of Art is inviting New Orleans- based artists to apply to participate in the museum’s Creative Assembly Cohort for the 2023 -24 session.

Participating artists will have access to professional development workshops, opportunities for mentorship, and support to produce a public-facing program.

Projects from artists in the previous Creative Assembly Cohort included:

♥️ The debut of a composition by trumpeter , exploring cosmetology around the world.

♥️An original performance by .

♥️ In-gallery activations by musician Joseph Darensbourg.

♥️ A demonstration by food justice activist, Courtney Clark, looking for healthier alternatives to New Orleans cuisine.

Applications will be accepted now through August 18 for artists of all disciplines. This year’s Creative Assembly begins September 13!
