10 years of Born Digital led us here.

What started as youth learning to tell their stories has grown into a true bridge to the creative workforce. Our Video Editing Pre-Apprenticeship builds on a decade of Born Digital programming: connecting young creators (ages 16–24) to real-world editing experience, professional mentors, and paid internship pathways.

Already, our second cohort of pre-apprentices have:
*Created a commercial project with Matthew David Wilder (FatHappy)
*Talked post-production with award-winning filmmaker Dwayne LeBlanc at NOFF
*Explored the intersection of architecture and filmmaking with Marion Forbes.

Coming up next: documentary work with editor and filmmaker Stephen Pfeil in Winter 2026. 🎬

This work is powered by community. Deep thanks to our mentors for investing in the next generation of storytellers. You help us keep the bridge strong.
We’re raising $10K for 10 years of Born Digital.

👉Donate via the link in our linktree.

Our Video Editing Pre-Apprenticeship program is funded in part by a grant form YouthForce NOLA and contributions from the Four Friends Foundation, Gulf Coast Bank and generous individual donations.

It’s hard to believe Giving Her Flowers was only one month ago. This curated event was a way for us to pour into Stevee-Rayne Warren and Dee Speed, two people that show up for us even and especially when no one is watching.

NOVAC thrives through collective effort and the intentional contributions of our staff, board, and volunteers. Stevee-Rayne and Dee are both multi-talented women that have made NOVAC a priority time and time again, and we are forever grateful for them.

Thank you for coming or showing your appreciation in spirit if you couldn’t be there in person. It’s hard to encapsulate what such an outpouring of love looks like, but highlights certainly help.

Giving Her Flowers could not have happened without the support of so many. We are humbled by the community businesses that helped make our event a success.

A special thanks to Fritai Nola who came through with a beautiful space and delicious food. Stevee and Dee received flowers and gift baskets filled with in-kind donations from Hotel Peter & Paul Apartment 4 Lifestyle, St. Noir CafĂŠ, Bayou Wine Garden and Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts

We are so grateful for everyone’s generosity.

Couldn’t attend this special fundraising event, but still want to help empower storytellers? Our End of Year Campaign donation link is in our linktree, where your donation directly impacts our Born Digital Youth Programs empowering our young generation of storytellers.

We do what we do because of your powerful support and continued partnership. Thank you for helping us in our mission to provide access to our community storytellers. Here’s to 10 more years of Born Digital Youth Programming.

10 years of Born Digital means 10 years of young storytellers making their mark.

In 2019, filmmaker Garrett Bradley (yes, the MacArthur Genius!) welcomed our students into her NOMA America exhibit, alongside mentors Zuri Obi and Nic Aziz. Our youth created short films that screened in Bodies of Knowledge—exploring freedom, history, and identity through their own lens.

We say it because it’s true: empowered storytellers empower communities.

Support the next generation—and donate to our end of year campaign today. Link in our linktree.
