What a special night!! Daveda Karanas, thank you for bringing such incredible music to us, and to you and Cara McCool Woolf for sharing your talents in such a meaningful concert that we will forever remember.

My heart is full. I’ve known for 24 years. Our friendship began in 2001, when we traveled together from Miami to Munich for the Salzburg Program. That experience solidified my decision to pursue classical music and opera.

We’ve stayed connected over the years, and it was truly special to reunite onstage and share a program of underrepresented composers with the wonderful audience here in New Orleans. It was equally meaningful to be back in my home state and see so many familiar faces.

Thank you, , and thank you to everyone who attended our concert. You have a special piece of my heart!

Daveda has been hailed for her “capacious power” and “a voice lustrous and exciting”. Daveda is a Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, an international semifinalist on the Neue Stimmen Competition, and a Grand Prize Winner of the Arizona Opera League Competition. In addition to her accolades and international recognition, Daveda is an advocate for historically underrepresented voices in classical music.
