Friends and collaborators! A couple months ago I was asked to direct a music video for the legendary Mavis Staples. Since, The Greenhouse Collective, LLC has been working hard as hell at making this shoot a reality. After a lot of trail and error, we're finally looking upon a quickly impending shoot day - and that's where we need your help.

Our friend Keah Moffett has graciously provided her likeness for the creation of an 11 foot tall monument which we will be erecting - IRL - at the former site of the Jefferson Davis statue on Canal.

We're looking for beautiful faces to come out and play a crowd of supporters for the shoot. My intent is to hopefully change the perception of these spaces from something oppressive, and to look toward the future possibilities of whom should really be memorialized in our public spaces.

We will be shooting on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12th during the daylight hours, and are looking for people who can stay with us for the duration. We don't have money to pay you, but we can feed you! And you'll get to be a part of a national music video that I think will be very prescient to the current social/political atmosphere.

If you're interested, DM me personally, and I'll connect you with our team!

My homegirl Lily Keber and I made this film about a Second Line club who used Black Lives Matter AND All Live Matter as their theme. Needless to say, people were conflicted.

Real talk.

"Closed To Interpretation" explores one New Orleans community’s relationship to the popular term “Black Lives Matter” and its reactionary counterpoint “All Lives Matter” within the context of a traditional street parade. This stylized documentary uses local voices and expressionistic cinematography to question how intent and meaning can often be lost or misinterpreted in contemporary symbols.

Very Proud to say the GHC produced video series, Heart of ICWA is a Webby Award Honoree!

Last year, we spent months producing a video series with the incredible organization National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) capturing stories across Indian Reservations about the cruel and biased adoption practices of the US. Tearing child away from family and community have left scars that to this day reverberate across Indian families, communities and nations.

Making this series helped me understand this pain and trauma that has not healed but is always in the process of healing.

Every decision our team made was dedicated not only to the story, but also to honoring the people who spoke with us and revealed so much of themselves.

So thank you to all who opened their hearts and homes and thank you to our talented crew:

Almost a year in production and still no rough cut! Jk. Behind the scenes, the team has been hard at work on a feature doc entitled Bloodthicker that follows the sons of rappers B.G., Juvenile, and Soulja Slim to examine identity, and familial bonds within rap culture.

Happy to say that the film has been recognized by the Tribeca Film Institute as a grantee of the Tribeca All Access Grant, pushing it into the next phase of production.

Thanks to the team Zac Manuel, Chris Cleanenergynow Haney, Justin Fontenot, Lauren Domino, Holly Hobbs!

So I spent most of last year producing a short documentary series on the brutal history of forced adoptions in Native American communities. Back in April I flew out with a small film crew and spent two weeks traveling to different reservations in the Pacific Northwest capturing stories about Native families who have been torn apart by unjust adoption practices. This policy was suppose to stop in 1978 when Congress passed the Indian Child Welfare Act, but it has never gone into full effect. I'm not a parent but the trauma of separating a child from their parents, from their community and their culture is scarring, and it has placed a huge burden upon Native Communities. What I have heard, I cannot unhear, what I have learned I really want to share.
This first video profiles Fawn, the President of The Quinault Indian Nation, who has adopted 3 Native Children. The video is about how hard it was for her to adopt, how broken the system is and the trauma these little ones have been through because of a failure to enforce ICWA. Take a moment to watch and learn about this very much overlooked aspect of American History.
