Chase Answers

Chase Answers Our group is a loving and compassionate group of parents, grandparents, family and friends of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We get together for informational and social events, sometimes with our children and sometimes without. Going through this journey of Autism is not always easy and we have been lucky to find each other as local support (Chase Answers). We have also connected with the national organization, The Thinking Moms' Revolution, and their non-profit Team TMR to host fundraisers and events in the New Orleans area.

🌟 Executive Functioning Skills Matter!
Executive functioning skills help with learning, planning, staying organized, managing emotions, paying attention, and adapting to change. Many individuals with autism need extra support building these skills — and that’s okay.

🧠 Key Areas of Executive Function:
• Working Memory – remembering and using new information
• Mental Flexibility – shifting thinking and adapting
• Self-Control – managing impulses and staying focused

🏥 Medical factors like seizures, nutrient deficiencies, or blood sugar issues can also impact these skills.

🏫 How to Support Growth:
• Get an assessment to identify strengths and needs
• Work with your child’s IEP team on goals and accommodations
• Model and practice skills at home through daily routines

💡 Strengthening executive functioning can make everyday tasks — at home, school, and beyond — more manageable and successful.

This session highlights the importance of family-centered care, where the needs and priorities of both the child and their family drive the therapy process. Sara will discuss how OT can address concerns such as sensory regulation, fine and gross motor skills, self-care, and social skills. The evaluation process, treatment programs, and strategies for integrating OT into daily life will be covered, including actionable at-home techniques. Key OT programs, such as the Integrated Listening System (ILS), the astronaut program, and the interactive metronome, will be introduced, empowering parents to implement strategies that support their child’s growth.
