Today, voices and hands were raised in praise and worship as the Center of Jesus the Lord, New Orleans, celebrated their Golden Jubilee starting with music and thanks at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond at 11 a.m.

Prior to Mass, a parishioner told those in attendance that everyone was welcome and they always have been from their humble beginnings in the French Quarter with the Carmelites to moving to their current location in 2015.

As the only charismatic church offering a Mass on Sunday in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, the Center of Jesus the Lord incorporates upbeat music, hand clapping, singing and asking the Holy Spirit to work among parishioners to bring them closer to God along their journey.

“God has always been a constant and today we sing and thank him for the past 50 years and the years ahead,” said Father Lance Campo, pastor. “We continue to look to the future with great hope and celebration as the Holy Spirit works among us.”

Archbishop Aymond thanked all of the founders of the church for their continued faith and what they have brought to the archdiocese. He asked them to continue to carry God’s goodness to the community.

“Thank you for the privilege of being here and for 50 years of grace,” he said.

“As a charismatic church, we are open to anyone who wants to live a life full of joy and know Jesus personally,” said Michele Berger, event organizer.

This Wednesday is the annual Evening of Confession in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. From 5pm to 6:30 pm (and sometimes longer) each parish in the archdiocese will be open for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a beautiful evening and an opportunity for families to go together to church and receive God's mercy, forgiveness, and grace through the sacrament.

In the most recent Clarion we printed a Guide for Going to Confession and an Examination of Conscience. Our latest Kids' Clarion featured an Examination of Conscience just for kids! You can find the guide below and both examinations of conscience online at clarionherald.org

St.Rita of Cascia Church, Harahan, commemorated their 75th anniversary today during 9:30 a.m. Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond and Father Steven Bruno, pastor.

Every seat was spoken for by parishioners who came out to celebrate this milestone.

Archbishop Aymond welcomed attendees and told them they should be proud of their parish and this anniversary is a testament to their faith, enthusiasm and integrity.

He added that St. Rita parishioners bring God’s love to others and this close knit community is a great example of missionary disciples.

“Today we give thanks and celebrate the founders of St. Rita,” Archbishop Aymond said. “We are blessed by a living parish that continues to serve.”

“Once upon a time God planted a seed that was St. Rita parish,” he said. “And, it has grown into a wonderful tree. Congratulations on 75 years.”

After Mass, parishioners were invited to a social in the school cafeteria. Pope Leo XIV also made an appearance. Well, a cardboard image of the Pope in front of a step and repeat.
