Election Day is today — Saturday, March 29th. Polling locations will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. After careful consideration, Sheriff Jerry Turlich announces there will not be a curfew imposed tonight for Plaquemines Parish.

With that being said, Sheriff Turlich recommends to avoid traveling tonight unless it’s absolutely necessary. Temperatures in the Belle Chasse and Braithwaite areas are forecast to reach freezing tonight possibly causing the wet roadways to refreeze creating black ice. DTR along with the Phoenix and Pointe a-La-Hache areas, you guys are not forecast to reach freezing temperatures, but there still may be ice on the roadways that hasn’t melted yet. If you must travel tonight, please slow down, use extreme caution ⚠️ and stay safe.
