BELLE CHASSE, LA- The Belle Chasse Bridge Replacement Project and GeauxPass invite the public to attend one of two upcoming customer service events focused on the new Belle Chasse Bridge.
On Tuesday, August 5, from noon to 6 p. m., and Wednesday, August 6, from 10am to 6pm, residents and commuters can connect with GeauxPass representatives and register for toll transponders at the Plaquemines Parish Multipurpose Center, located at 333 F. Edward Hebert Blvd. in Belle Chasse.

“These events are important for the community since they will assist with tolling on the newly constructed bridge,” said DOTD Sec. Glenn Ledet. “I would like to thank the local legislative delegation and Plaquemines Parish for the coordination and collaboration to bring this two-day event to fruition.”

These events will provide a convenient opportunity for the public to learn more about the tolling system and connect directly with customer service staff. Anyone who has not yet registered for a GeauxPass transponder is encouraged to attend to set up their account ahead of future crossings.

The Belle Chasse Bridge Replacement Project began active tolling May 14, 2025.

Geauxpass encourages all regular travelers in the area to make use of these opportunities and stay informed on the latest updates related to bridge access and tolling requirements. For more information on GeauxPass, Louisiana’s statewide toll system, visit GeauxPass.com.

After careful consideration, Sheriff Jerry Turlich announces there will not be a curfew imposed tonight for Plaquemines Parish.

With that being said, Sheriff Turlich recommends to avoid traveling tonight unless it’s absolutely necessary. Temperatures in the Belle Chasse and Braithwaite areas are forecast to reach freezing tonight possibly causing the wet roadways to refreeze creating black ice. DTR along with the Phoenix and Pointe a-La-Hache areas, you guys are not forecast to reach freezing temperatures, but there still may be ice on the roadways that hasn’t melted yet. If you must travel tonight, please slow down, use extreme caution ⚠️ and stay safe.
