When working people can’t afford to live, cities stop working too.

Zohran Mamdani’s win in New York proves that fairness and growth can coexist if leaders are willing to make the system serve everyone, not just the wealthy few.

As New Orleans faces an approximately $160 million dollar deficit and a shrinking middle class, the question isn’t whether we can afford reform; it’s whether we can afford not to.

(Obviously there are differences and nuances with our infrastructure, and social and economic circumstances; but, there are policy ideas we can use from Mamdani’s playbook that will benefit our city in the long run.)
