The owners of the New Orleans Advocate plan to publish a seven-day, home-delivered newspaper, and the two papers’ websites will be merged under the nola.com brand.

This week, the Association of Healthcare Journalists recognized NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reporters for their work on two investigative reporting series. Our journalists were awarded first place in health policy reporting for "A Fragile State" and third place for public health reporting for "The Children of Central City."

Both of these series garnered national attention, but most importantly they impacted state and local policy around these issues. Local journalism can make a measurable difference in the lives of people in our community. It's why we exist.
