On December 14, 1829, Niépce entered into a notarial agreement on further joint work with the creator of the first diorama, Louis Daguerre, who conducted his own experiments in the field of image fixation

A favorite place, Tallulah Gorge State Park of Georgia.

The first known attempt to capture an image chemically was made by Thomas Wedgwood and Humphry Davy. Already in 1802, they could obtain photograms using silver salts, without knowing how to fix them

The invention of photography was made possible by combining several discoveries made long before. The ancient Chinese philosopher Mo Tzu described the action of a camera obscura back in the 5th century BC.

Charlie loves a great ride.

The person who takes photographs is called a photographer. In most cases, he also performs all the other stages of creating a photographic image, but often the technical part of the work is performed by photo lab assistants, retouchers, photo editors and representatives of other professions. In professional studio photography, the photographer delegates some responsibilities to his assistants.

It was circa 1954 when I was introduced to photography. Probably earlier than that. I do remember taking photos with my mother's Kodak. Likely a Kodak Duaflex 620 Roll Camera. It was a great place to begin my photographic journey, I actually started out where Ansel Adams could have been shooting that day. Yes, Yosemite National Park. Of course, at that time I had no idea he was making photographic history. I don't know if any of the photos I took then still exist. Some prints from Mom's camera certainly do exist. Some may actually may have been taken by me. A few years later I had saved my nickles, dimes and quarters up by placing the coins in a toy cash register. The drawer wouldn't open until it reached $10. I saved to buy my own camera, a Tower Model 7. It took 120 film and the standard print was 6x9cm. And, there were 8 to a roll of 120 film. At first I snapped away with and sent the film to a lab for prints. The prints were returned in about 10 days by US mail. Color was something of the distant future for most people at the time. So, my photos were black and white. The film speed was 50-100 ASA according to my current research but, it seems to me I may have had film with an ASA of 25. The prints I got back were somewhat dependent on my knowledge that came with experience. Needless to say most of the early photos were not the best. That said, some turned out very nice. One I love has a photo of the old arched US-176 bridge, "High Bridge," over the Green River in Henderson County, NC. My Dad's 1949 DeSoto Limo parked on the at the close end along the road. The photo was torn somehow over the years but, it lives on in my mind.

Photographs are also the name given to the final prints of a photographic image produced on photographic paper by a chemical process or by a printer.

It was raining yesterday so, pretty much an inside day. Then I saw this Red-Bellied Woodpecker at the Prop Suet Feeder. If I opened the window I knew it would fly away so, I took my telephoto lens and focused on the wooopecker thru the window. By taking a step back I lost all the window reflections and spots on the glass. In Photoshop I adjusted the colors and cropped the photos. By making Photoshop adjustments I was able to see the woodpecker more true to life and what I saw with my eyes. Our eyes don't stop the rain or blur the shadows. The camera and Photoshop do that.
