When WL&F lays in wait for someone, tells them they are going to assess if what the fishermen are doing is legal or not, and then get back to them, and then instead fine those fishermen you were meant to help and send it to the press, that’s fishy to me.

Louisiana law prohibits the obstruction the free passage of fish in any stream, lake, bayou or other body of water, such as canals, unless it is a water control structure used for conservation purposes.

🦐✨ What a weekend at LA Shrimpfest 2025! Our SWLA crew showed up and showed out: from shrimp boots to science boots!
Boudreaux the Shrimp made their big entrance and the kids had an absolute blast 🎉 (we might’ve danced a little too).
We presented on hydrophones + community science with The FACTS, showing how local fishers and researchers are teaming up to listen to the Gulf and protect what we love most.
Our panel: “The FACTS on SWLA: How Can Industry and Louisiana Fisheries Coexist?” hit home. Shrimpers, oystermen, and crabbers from Cameron Parish shared how they’ve seen up to 80% catch loss since LNG operations began on the Calcasieu River. Hard truths, but hopeful hearts. 💪🌊
And of course: “The Little Shrimp and the Terrible Noise” stole the show! 🦐💖 The kids cheered for brave lil’ Benoit and his friends as they set out to save their home.
We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who came out, supported, shared stories, and celebrated our coast and community. We’re all in for SWLA: shrimpers, scientists, storytellers, and sea creatures alike. 💙

While we did the really hard work of speaking on a panel to discuss issues facing the sh*****ng industry in SWLA, we had some different favorite parts.

Watch to hear what moments we found most memorable. 🦐
