The Buzz hosts and promotes events and campaigns to reinforce the mission of unifying the students in the HBCU community across 19 states and in the District of Columbia. The Buzz is committed to promoting HBCU pride and unity in order to enhance the black college experience. The Buzz leadership consists of mostly recent HBCU graduates from diverse educational backgrounds within the HBCU Community.

Benedict College's ABET electrical engineering accreditation makes it the first HBCU in South Carolina to hold this distinction, and the timing couldn't be better for a school riding real enrollment momentum. The Columbia-based HBCU announced the milestone Sept. 3, putting it among just four institutions statewide with ABET accreditation in any engineering discipline.

HBCU players on NFL Week 1 rosters became official this weekend, and the number is bigger than the pipeline's critics like to admit. Seventeen names cleared final cuts across the league. That group runs from a Heisman winner in Jacksonville to a fourth-round cornerback who just locked down a starting job in Dallas.
