Funny Fighting Chicks: The red band trailer dropped today for a groovy little flick that EPK Louisiana was the EPK / BTS Videographer on last year!
"Bottoms" up!
Directed and co-written by the sweetest director Emma Seligman and starring Rachel Sennot (also co-writer) and Ayo Edibiri who you may know from the great Hulu show "The Bear".....they make a frisky and formidable comedy team!
Be forewarned.....it's not a Hallmark family film!
2 intrepid young gay high school girls start a fight club!.....to meet chicks and get their grooves on!
If the film is half as wild and hilarious as the behind the scenes antics were.....it should hit hard!

Fire It Up: Who caught "Project Power" on Netflix this weekend????
In the pre-pandemic era this would have been a theatrical summer blockbuster...in these pandemic days, it's a hot #1 highlight of the streaming scene!
Working for Los Angeles based behind the scenes content creators Mob Scene and veteran EPK Producer Vic Davis, EPK Louisiana shot the interviews and b-roll for this cool piece detailing how Machine Gun Kelly's character literally bursts into flames and blows up the screen for this sizzling scene.
Even though it was Winter 2018, it was a hot night in New Orleans!!!

Super Powerful: Yes!!!!!!!....been waiting for this gem to drop!
EPK Louisiana aka yours truly shot the BTS, promo pieces and on set interviews for "Project Power" starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt....all locations right here in NOLA......and the story takes place in New Orleans baby!
The premise?
What if you could take a pill that would give you super powers for 5 minutes???
Imagine the carnage and the chaos, hell, it was bad enough with Quaaludes and Preludes back in the 80s and "bath salts" more recently ha!
Action packed sci-fi extravaganza also featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Dominique Fishback......both were super cool to interview!
If the delivered cinematic product is anything like I experienced on set....this m***a' is gonna rock!!!!
(Saints fans notice the Steve Gleason jersey that Levitt's undercover detective character wears!)

Shot In Louisiana: Back in the days when we still made movies in NOLA and people still mingled, EPK Louisiana was involved with this dramatic potboiler IFC film "Out of Blue" shot here in 2018.
I just today realized it had been released.
EPK Louisiana was behind the scenes shooter and we produced some news package segments used in the film.
Also, I was asked by the director and alas, yours truly David Akin played the small on camera part of, what else, "the cameraman" in a brief scene.
Always a fan of James Caan, he plays a pivotal role. He's getting up there age wise....but I can attest, still feisty as hell!
English film director Carol Morley is best known for her semi-documentary "Dreams of Life" (Google it, it's amazing)
NOLA native daughter and acclaimed thespian Patricia Clarke is the lead as a NOPD detective in over her head investigating a high brow local murder case.
Lots of New Orleans scenery is featured as well.....Tulane University gets some props.

For Your Self Isolation Binging Pleasure: Speaking of our current loss of paradise....this trailer dropped today for "Paradise Lost" a Spectrum Originals TV series that EPK Louisiana was behind the scenes shooter / producer on last year for about 4 months.
Great gig, paid for a new camera pkg and is still funding the current non-employed self isolation a bit ha!
Dark dramatic Southern gothic-esque tale, a redemption story, a murder mystery....and pseudo- supernatural threads abound.
Handsome hunk Josh Hartnett leads a cast that includes Nick Nolte and Barbara Hershey.
Twists and turns and shocks abound!.....and no cheesy southern accents ha!

Battle Stations:This World War 2 seafaring battle tale starring Tom Hanks, out this summer, was shot in great part right here in Baton Rouge at Celtic Media Studios a couple years back.
Tons of green screen and huge Navy destroyer ship sets!
The EPK Louisiana biz was slow back then and in an effort to keep paying my bills and see if I could still do it.... I was a grip for a few weeks on this show. Did that with some frequency in my 20s and 30s.....didn't embarrass myself too badly on this one, but I'm not putting any real grips outta work anytime soon haha!
I was only around Mr. Hanks briefly, but he was as cool, cordial and professional as you could imagine. He also wrote the screenplay to this film based on true events.
In theaters June 2020.....

The only thing more dangerous than the front lines was the fight to get there. Screenplay by Tom Hanks inspired by actual events, Greyhound comes to theaters...

Do You Know The Secret?: Shot almost entirely on the North Shore, in the Mandeville, La area, on a few backwater bayous and a bit in the French Quarter.....EPK Louisiana is proud and grateful to have been EPK Producer on this gem shot here in 2018.
In theaters April 17, 2020 and based on the 2006 best selling self help book "The Secret", it stars Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas, directed by auteur Andy Tennant who formerly helmed the romantic comedy hit "Sweet Home Alabama" and is currently directing episodes of the hit Netflix comedy series, " The Kominsky Method".
Louisiana folks will recognize a lot here and this film takes place just where it was shot....dealing with relatable blue collar locals and valid South Louisiana regional issues.
And of course there is the Secret......to know it you'll have to buy a book or catch some cinema all ye secret seekers!

Southern Fright Nights: Way back before Louisiana film tax incentives were even a concept, cinema pioneers Jim McCullough Sr. and son Jim Jr. were visionary independent film producers and screenwriters here in our bayou banana republic back in the 70s and 80s...when VHS ruled and horror/genre flicks roared.
Vinegar Syndrome has re-mastered and re-released one of their cult classic 80s gems,
“Mountaintop Motel Massacre”
Guess who they interviewed for the Blu-Ray behind the scenes Special Features?
Talented Production Designer and art genius Drew Edward Hunter for one!
His contributions were massive in many departments.
Yours truly as well....merely for the fact that I’m still alive I suspect and I helped shoot the re-shoots that helped sell the film to New World Pictures and get a wider release back in the gory gravy days of 80s horror cinema fantastique!

Cinema Is My Mistress: EPK / BTS / On Set Documentary /Special Features....there's many names for what my primary career as EPK Louisiana is these days.
Simply....it's telling the story of the story tellers.
And I'm blessed that I love my job.

EPK Universe: Hard to believe that this pic was taken 20 years ago in 1999....as our struggling timeline was on the precipice of the 21rst Century.
Remember Y2K panic?
I'd already been in the wacky world of film, TV, news, documentary and broadcast media production since 1984 at that point....and I thought I had it all figured out.
I didn't....not by a long shot haha!
In 2006, I learned about search engines and secured the domain name www.epklouisiana.com
Best business decision I've made since my herbal supplement selling outlaw days haha!
14 years on....EPK Louisiana is still getting it done on a budget and on time!
Despite the distractors!

Despite the competition!
Big changes coming for 2020!....new cameras, new gear, new locales...ongoing vintage experience;).
