Thank you for standing with WYES!

As you are aware by now, last night Congress took the final vote that will rescind the previously appropriated funds for public media. This marks the end of future funding for PBS and local stations.

For WYES, that means over $800,000 annually.

While this presents a very serious challenge, WYES remains committed to serving our community and presenting southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast region with the best service possible.

It is a privilege to serve our community.

Thank you for all of your efforts over the past few months and for your continued dedication to WYES. Your support is greatly appreciated.

WYES thanks you for your engagement and support.

Early this morning, the Senate voted to rescind the previously approved future funding for public media.

As there were other unrelated amendments, the Rescissions Act of 2025 is now back with the House for a final vote tonight.

All outreaches to Congressmen are appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support and engagement. We will keep you posted on how you can continue to help support WYES. You deserve the best service that we can offer.

💻☀️ It's day 3️⃣ of WYES Digital Media Summer Camp.

Led by local educator and broadcasting veteran Mary Jackson the campers are off to a great start. The week kicked off with tours of WYES' facilities and the students were able to sit down with WYES producer Peggy Scott Laborde, WYES media & technology Coordinator Calvin Barrett, WYES director of production and event services Tam Kady and WWLTV's Brandon Walker.

Over the two weeks of camp students will gain hands-on experience in broadcasting and digital media while producing “Did You KnowLa?” local history segments for publication on WYES’ YouTube channel.

We are excited to welcome students from Frederick A. Douglass High School, Ben Franklin High School, Hahnville High School, New Harmony High, New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Northshore High School, Riverdale High School and St. Augustine High School.

Funding provided by New Orleans Recreation & Culture Fund.
