Tropical Storm Erin has developed in the far eastern tropical Atlantic off the coast of Africa.

While gradual intensification into a hurricane is anticipated, it will take more than a week for this system to traverse the Atlantic.

There will be ample time to evaluate the track over the next week with no immediate threat to the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia.

A tropical low-pressure system is anticipated to emerge from the Caribbean and progress into the north-central Gulf.

This combination of features is expected to yield an increase in precipitation probabilities, reaching 70-80% on Tuesday and Wednesday. Subsequently, high pressure will move in, commencing on Thursday and persisting through the weekend, thereby restoring the typical summertime weather pattern, with daytime highs approaching the mid-90s and precipitation probabilities ranging from 30-50%.

At 9:35 AM EDT on Sun Aug 10 2025, a well-defined low pressure system has formed in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic (AL97) with maximum winds of 35 mph. Possibility of a tropical depression forming before moving across Cabo Verde Islands by Monday. Monitor for heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Potential for tropical depression later in the week with a high chance of development.

A disturbance in the central Atlantic (AL96) currently shows disorganized showers and thunderstorms with low pressure. Development may be slow due to dry air, though gradual progress is possible in the coming days as the system moves northward. Formation chances remain low at 10 percent within the next 48 hours and 20 percent within 7 days.

It is essential that we keep tracking both of these systems as they could impact the mainland in US.

A tropical wave off Africa's west coast, Invest , may develop into a hurricane. While its 7-12 day journey across the Atlantic is uncertain, those in hurricane-prone areas should remain prepared, especially in August.
