Forensic Architecture, in collaboration with RISE ST. JAMES, has released a powerful investigation into environmental racism in Death Alley, Louisiana. Once called “Plantation Country,” this stretch between Baton Rouge and New Orleans now hosts more than 200 petrochemical plants on former plantation land.

The report highlights how Black communities face toxic pollution, higher cancer rates, and the erasure of ancestral burial sites. An interactive map makes hundreds of years of land transformation, pollution data, and cultural loss visible.
