It’s time that New Orleans tell its story of the origin of Jazz and its dependence upon the mixture of peoples and cultures that are unique to our city. It is time to celebrate “The Birth and Rise of Jazz.” Take a look!

3PM @ The Kerry Irish Pub (331 Decatur St.)
Shorts Program #1
Stick-Up
When two teenagers plan to get an abusive step father arrested, their plan takes a life changing turn for the worse...or better, depending on who you ask.

Ripe Figs
“Ripe Figs” is an adaptation of the 1890’s story by Louisiana writer Kate Chopin, who dealt with themes of female s*xuality and liberation, motherhood, race, and class. “Ripe Figs” is a study of a young woman’s desire to leave her sheltering godmother, and control her burgeoning sensuality and identity.

Paradise

Dystopian: Lovesong
The earth has become a lethally polluted habitat of abandoned cities in permanent darkness. Survivors live and work inside pressurized protective suits which have become their mobile home sheltering them from the outside world. There is no leaving the suits, no physical interaction between the survivors. Communication and interface solely take place on the city’s social network.

The city motto is simple: do your job, earn your credits, maintain your suit.

Ian, a young worker who scavenges his quadrant for antiques he sells to earn his credits, is haunted by a vision he sees both in his virtual s*x encounters and during his dreams: an old music box concealing a beautiful Ballerina doll.

Postal
When the hapless staff of a rural Australian post office are taken hostage in a robbery-gone-wrong, a young employee must take it upon herself to restore order to her workplace.

Sunday, March 25th
1PM @ The Kerry Irish Pub (331 Decatur St.)
Feature Film
Wards
Mitch is a young man who finds out the hard way that family can be deadly as strangers. He was setup for a crime he didn't commit and now he's faced with fighting back to survive. It all goes down in the streets... in the WARDS of New Orleans. Cast included in the movie is New Orleans very own Dominic Alexander, Lucky Johnson, Tanya Gill, Maurice Amon Smith, Tina D Rubin and Tomeka Richard.

3PM @ The Kerry Irish Pub (331 Decatur St.)
Shorts Program #2
Stay Woke
On the eve of an election, the lives of a politician trying to reconnect with the people he once represented, two African American youth frustrated by a recent police killing, and a police office who desires to do the right thing will all collide.

The Curtain Film
Two hospitalized strangers develop an unlikely friendship by revealing painful, intimate details about their lives through the safety and anonymity of the room’s curtain divider. They bond through grief and humour, encouraging one another to make brave choices that hold personal consequences.

Creatures of God
Smack. Crunch. Splat. Two lovers are heading to the altar and small creatures are dying along the way. Predestination or coincidence? Creatures of God is a dark comedy that explores the obsessiveness of humans to find meaning in the random events that happen in our lives.

Buried
On arriving back to his car after a funeral and prompted by the act of the burial itself, Pete recounts memories of his childhood
