The question the candidates need to answer is whether they will continue to oppose my office’s efforts to dissolve this consent decree which declares in the document that it will be dissolved if state or federal law changes. State law changed, and it violated federal law from the start. Will they keep paying lawyers to fight ending it? Don’t they all say they will follow state and federal law? Candidates should stop hiding behind a consent decree that is dissolved by its own terms.
